Waking up at 7:55 for an 8am class Then deciding whether its worth there will be a tutorial today ?? If so, would I get marks if I go? Once all these sensible questions have defeated you, you head to class.... This is BITS Pilani, where people who want to go to class do so at 0% attendance rules Some people spring to mind: 1) A 10-pointer who never misses classes 2) Another one who never attended one 3) A third who did everything possible on campus and still got the prestigious 10-point grade 4) The always-attending chap who struggled through courses till the very end (This one was me, btw) 5) The incredibly 'gifted' guy who didnt care for marks The college has very little to 'force' students to study here. If you wish to 'just pass' a course - Just get 30 marks out of 300. If you want to 'learn' and 'debate' you sit in your hostels and talk to the students. Not everyone has the same method to success... The magic of BITS Pilani is that it offers everyone to find his/her own way !!

What ever have you heard about the prestigious BITS Pilani is true. Experience it here in the youngest campus of BITS Pilani. The mind blowing infrastructure, the student associations, the freedom culture, American style education system are in short just awesome. The labs in electrical engineering department are Asia's best labs a college/university has. The teachers are helpful. The auditorium is mind blowing. It is one of the fastest growing institute. The students clearing GSoC are increasing by a factor of 2 every year. The campus placements are one of the best in India for what a university can provide. The average package increases every year. It provides every thing what you need for education, sports or your hobby. You can easily find students of your type or of your region. It's again "unity in diversity" which we are proud of.

The sprawling 200 acre campus, welcomes you with its magnificent huge gates, and a couple of modern shinny glassy buildings. With the campus not landscaped into a flat piece of land, but rather left in its natural state amidst the rocks, and the hillocks. With the educational blocks (A to G) taking the higher ground, and the residential blocks downhill. The road leading towards the college blocks from the hostel is beautiful with a rock garden leading into the stairs carved into the rocks that must have existed there. Of course there are cement roads for the vehicles too, but none as beautiful as the one meant to walk. There is absolutely no reservation of any kind, and every student has to take the BITSAT to be here. The crowd is quite diverse though, and people mix wellEstablished in 2008, only one batch has been out yet, and the placements have been good in the first season. But this year on, students expect it only to get better over time. Campus placement is the best for CSE departments, and about 80% placements overall. With a whole host of companies visiting the campus, from different sectors; like Financial Analysis, Software/ IT, Electronics, and big players including Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Samsung, Morgan Stanley and many more

At BITS Hyderabad, one is exposed to a multitude of opportunities to not only acquire skills but also advance one's current skill set. The slope of my learning curve immediately shot up from the day I joined. The seniors here are extremely helpful and will guide you every step of the way. Students here are always doing something or the other, be it academic projects or taking part in one of the numerous extracurricular activities that BITS has to offer. All in all, one of the best 3 years of my life so far and I would definitely recommend this college to anyone.

A Hub for Education and Research

As a pre-final year student, BITS Hyderabad has given me ample opportunities for industry exposure. The reputed practice school facility here attests to this. One of the key features, which even it's sister campuses do not have, is the focus on research. At BITS Hyderabad, Professors are very encouraging when it comes to research, and as a resut students take up multiple projects during their time here. BITS Hyderabad has one of the highest no. of Papers published amongst private universities in India as well.

The placements here are pretty good. The average package offered is around 8-10 LPA, which is more than most of the IITs. Placements in core sectors are less as is the case with all the engineering colleges, but there are ample opportunities in IT, consultancy and analytics sectors. Over 90% of the students who sit in the placement period are placed every year, their offers ranging from over 1 crore per annum to maybe less than 5 lacs per annum depending on the companies and their performance. Hundreds of companies like Google, Oracle, Microsoft, Shell, Schlumberger, ICICI Bank, Bank of America, HP, Novartis etc. come to recruit the talented students every year.

1) Lab's equipment are the best and it is the only institute in the India which has VLSI tech department. 2) Time to time the institute organizes lectures of the people which are best in their field. 3) Student crowd, faculty and the all the sports facilities increase the level of the college life and no other college can beat that. 4) All the giant companies which recruit students from the campuses comes to our college. If a company doesn't come to our institute, then it simply means that that company doesn't recruit from any college and conduct its own recruitment process. 5) The food may be not so tasty but very hygienic along with the facility to play any sports at any time even in the late night. 6) One of my Sir: He is the best professor and what made him exceptional apart from the good grasp of the subject is that he is very very motivating and is always ready to help the students in any matter. 7) Since this institute is a dream college for any students so obviously the institute has exceptional crowd and they are smart, hard-working and full of energy and creativity. 8) If we compare the level of knowledge and opportunity they provide and the affordability, then there is no doubt that the college is very affordable.

A place to experience complete freedom of thought and action

The college provides a lot of freedom to students. There is no compulsory attendence, can move freely in campus till 2 am at night, can leave the campus without permission from higher authorities. Placements are decent. For those who really desire to achieve their goals, its a good place. There are practice school programs which give decent industrial exposure to know the outside world better. The crowd in the college is very good. There is no unrest in students at all. Everyone here is dignified. Professors can do a better job. Classes aren't the strength of my college. Its the effort which they mostly put by themselves. Hostels are good enough. Mess food is decent as well. However, the college is expensive. The fees is close to 3 lakhs per annum. However, there is merit-cum need facility whose benefits are received by students with parents income less than 5 - 5.5 lpa.

The college life here is amazing. As a part of infrastructure, it provides right from wonderful labs to sports grounds. We have to compulsory go to company during vacation after 2nd year and in one semester of 4th year. The culture and day to day activities made my life so enjoyable. We have internship opportunity right now and we will get placements offer in 4th year. We have our own private rooms with bathroom on sharing basis. It is compulsory that each and every students stays in college, so after college hours culture is also maintained. Our college has no reservation so each and every students are to the level.

I am currently in my second semester here and it has truly been an amazing experience so far. The seniors here are really helpful and the culture here at campus is something to look forward to. The faculty here is extremely helpful and supportive. The curriculum includes a 'Practice School' component wherein the institute provides you with summer internships and this really helps gain a lot of industry exposure. All in all, this college will definitely exceed your expectations and you will surely call it your home someday.

It is a very good college. The best thing about this college is its faculty members. The college is infrastructural not so developed but yet it has its unique beauty. I came to college with no idea what it's going to be like. It was just the next thing after school, not much thought put into it. After coming here, things start to fall in place. You begin to realize a lot about yourself. You meet amazing people. In terms of academics and technology, what you do is totally up to you. If you feel a particular class isn't benefitting you, don't attend it. BITS has a 0 attendance policy which gives you the freedom to choose what is really important to you. You can also choose your courses(subjects) and even professors. You make your own timetable. There are lots of clubs where you can do what you love. These exist in every college and I'm not sure how BITS may be different. Another thing about BITS is its alumni support. Overall, coming to college was a great experience. It's going to be difficult to leave it in just 2 more years.

BITS Pilani , it's Magic . My experience here would not be anything short of magical here , but students should choose this college out of caution , if they like doing what they do , because the amount of flexibility this college offers , it's very, very easy to get lost in partying and having fun . But if you want to do anything in your life, I feel that somehow you'll find your way and get to great heights .

The unmatched transformative experience

Posted on 25 Aug' 16 by karthik varma
Batch of Jan. 1, 2013 | BE Electronics and Communication Engineering Hons
We had single rooms for all the four years. All the classrooms were air conditioned. We have the biggest auditorium in Asia and one of the biggest libraries in India. To enhance the corporate exposure we have PS-1 and PS-2, which provide the students to intern with some of the top MNCs. We had a zero attendance policy in BITS Hyderabad, so we had the chance to explore a multitude of activities apart from studies. The culture of the campus is student driven and the students had the freedom to organize events. I wish my college professors had good teaching skills, apart from a few, all the others had the knowledge but didn't know how to teach. Student crowd in BITS Hyderabad is very diversified. We had people from all over India, though it was dominated by Andhra Pradesh students. Some students were very interested in cultural activities and few have gone into the theater after college. Some were very focused on studies, many of my peers are currently pursuing higher studies in the US and many of them are doing MBA from premier institutes in India. Some were into organizing events, some were into sports. In terms of the quality of the education provided, the quality of campus life, the transformation that a person undergoes having spent four years there, the infrastructure facilities provided I consider the college to be affordable

The unique course structure which also offers internships as a part of coursework provides corporate exposure and also develops the requisite technical skills. Given that you make the most of the opportunities provided, the four years spent on campus will assuredly be the best years of your life. The best experience of a lifetime

Posted on 18 Aug' 16 by Nagesh

Great sports facilities, numerous clubs, both cultural and academic; single room hostels, no compulsory attendance, two internships provided by the college itself(Practice School-1 and Practice School-2),great placement opportunities and the best university linkages, all the above-mentioned attributes make BITS-Pilani Hyderabad Campus an experience of a lifetime. The Hyderabad campus, being the latest addition to BITS Pilani University, offers the best infrastructure among the three other existing campuses. Though my primary degree was Information Systems ,I had the flexibility of pursuing a minor degree in Finance and ultimately secured a job offer as a Trader(Market analyst) at a commodities trading firm. The student crowd also offers a great diversity. Though few might complain about the fees not being so affordable, ultimately its a tradeoff for the internationally recognised BITSIAN tag along with the million opportunities the college provides for an individual's growth.

The hostel internet is comparatively slower, because of higher sharing. With regards to timings, the latest you need to get back to the college campus is 10 P.M. Evenings are cooler, and strolling in the campus is enjoyable. Hostel food is good and hygienic, but over time students have got bored, but there’s a student mess council which manages the menu and tries to get in variety regularly. There’s a State Bank of Hyderabad branch on campus in CP.

Library is mainly used for studying, peaceful reading, and using reference books. And as a trend, most buy books used by seniors, so that they get books which are reliable. Apart from that PDF’s and PPT’s are provided by teachers or seniors, which in a way are better resources than textbooks also. Literary work is also available at the library. Wi-Fi connectivity and internet is available on the main campus, for other places, there are LAN ports, for wired connections. Running at about 10Mbps, the internet is fast and reliable.
