IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar is a state university established in 1997 by an Act of the State Legislature, Govt. of Punjab. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). PTU Jalandhar got 104th position in NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 whereas it was ranked 120 in the NIRF Ranking 2021 in the engineering category. The varsity campus is spread over an area of 5 lakhs square feet. PTU Jalandhar has 121 AICTE and 65 UGC approved colleges affiliated to it. As per the website of the university, the varsity vision is to train students and develop skilled professionals in the country and state specifically. To achieve this PTU Jalandhar has set up several training centres and centres of excellence across the city.

At present, PTU Jalandhar offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in the field of management, engineering, art & science etc. PTU Jalandhar offers only full-time programmes. PTU Jalandhar Facilities and Infrastructure

The university has excellent facilities and infrastructure. The university has air-conditioned classrooms, centralised wifi, a central library which is known as a knowledge resource centre and a cafeteria with a lot of space. The biggest attraction of PTU Jalandhar is its auditorium. The massive Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium can accommodate 800 students. It is furnished and built with the latest advancements. Moreover, PTU Jalandhar has a computer centre with ample numbers of computers and wifi which is available 24*7. 

The varsity has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The accommodation facilities are good as the hostel rooms are furnished and have leased line wifi, laundry facilities, provision for hot and cold water, 24 hours power supply and more. 

Apart from these facilities, PTU Jalandhar has playgrounds for sports like cricket, football, basketball, lawn tennis etc. The university also has provision for indoor sports such as table tennis, chess, and carrom board. A total of 33 courses in engineering, management, art & science and hotel management disciplines are offered by the university. It offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level courses. IK Gujral Punjab Technical University gives admission to diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels courses. The institute has 33 programmes in engineering, management, information technology, art & science streams. The admission procedure is different for every level and stream. There are different entrance exams for each discipline. For undergraduate courses in the engineering stream (B.Tech) students need to take JEE Main for postgraduate courses in management disciplines candidates are required to sit for CMAT.
