72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neurosciences is an offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Areas of Research: Developmental Neuroscience; Neurobiology of Disease; Neurobiology of Learning and Memory; Systems; Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience in Visual and Motor systems; Neuroscience of Perception; Attention and Decision making; Molecular Organization of Synapse; Synaptic Transmission and Plasticity.
Eligibility Criteria
Master’s degree in any branch of Science or Master’s degree in Psychology/ Clinical Psychology/ Optometry or Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Medicine/ Engineering/ Technology/ Agriculture/ Veterinary Science/ Pharmacy or Graduates of 4-year Bachelor of Science programmes.
Admission Details
For a Ph D programme in the Science Faculty candidates with ME /M Tech / M Sc(Engg) / MS / Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Agriculture, or Veterinary Medicine will be short-listed for an interview for Ph D programmes based on their academic performance (including their past performance in the national tests like GATE/ JRF/ GPAT in which they have qualified prior to their Master’s degree).

College Infrastructure
The facilities and infrastructure like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and library are nice with all facilities. Our labs are better compared to others. The library is also good with all books. The hostel facilities are good; the mess food is not good, and the canteen food is good. The medical facilities are also available.
