24 MonthsThe two-year Master of Science (MSc) Mathematics and Computing programme at IISER Pune is a newly launched post-graduate programme. This degree is meant for students with a bachelor's degree (BSc or BS) in mathematics.
The programme offers a blend of courses in algebra, analysis, topology, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics with a computational approach in mind. The programme introduces computational techniques using programming languages such as Python, SageMath, and other software. One of the highlights of the programme is lab courses in all semesters, where students are encouraged to implement various mathematical topics, including pure math topics, in Python or Sagemath. Students will gain fundamental skills in programming, computation, and data science while learning core mathematics subjects.

Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale in aggregate for SC, ST, and PWD candidates) in B.Sc. in any specialisation or B.Tech.
- Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the Bachelor's degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission.
Admission Details
(a) Appeared in JAM 2025* in MA or MS only. Candidates will be shortlisted based on JAM rank.
OR
(b) Appeared in NBHM 2025* examination for Masters Scholarships. Candidates will be shortlisted based on NBHM score.
*The rank/ score must be valid at the time of admission.
