You haven't mentioned you want to pursue which course in IGNOU, nevertheless as per UGC guidelines recently candidates can pursue two degree courses simultaneously, provided one is through regular mode and another through distance mode, so apart from pursuing BDS if you're interested in pursuing some other course in IGNOU, you can apply for the same, it will be valid, medical course like BDS isn't offered in distance mode you must be well acquainted with this, perhaps in a month or two admission for January cycle may commence in IGNOU, usually it's done from the month of December but due to covid pandemic there has been an entire shift in the academic calendar, you can stay updated at ignou.ac.in for latest updates regarding this.

So as far as BA English(Hons.) is concerned , the subjects that will be covered are History of English Literature & History of Indian Writing in English,Poetry: Sidney to Gray,Modern Drama,Essays & Stories,Elizabethan Drama,British Poetry & Indian Poetry in English,Novel and Philology, Phonetics & Modern Grammar. Regarding language it will be an elective subject in most universities and you may other languages options to choose from, the options will vary with colleges . Your son can take up another language which will be taught from basics. So the best way to know is by contacting the english department of the college you want about this concern . It is not like that Indira Gandhi National Open University IGNOU is not considered good university. IGNOU is run by the central government of India, and with total active enrollment of over 4 million students, claims to be the largest university in the world. It is just that IGNOU does not offer regular courses, otherwise for open distance learning courses IGNOU is top most choice for many students.

The maximum time period offered for MEG in IGNOU is four years which have already passed in your case, so you have to take re-admission you can get the form from the official website at ignou.ac.in once it gets available, or you may also contact your regional centre for the same, you also have to pay the fee through demand draft in favour of your regional centre, and writing you name, enrollment number, programme code, readmission on the back of it, your readmission remains valid for a period of two years only as it's master degree course.

First of all IGNOU is a recognized university in terms of offering distance learning programs, hence your degree will definitely be valid, but the question is what are your career goals, if it's appearing for government exams such as UPSC.SSC CGL.CPO/CDS, state PSCs or banking/insurance exams to name a few, then you're eligible to apply as majority have criteria of passed graduation in any field from a recognized university, the subject criteria may become specific when it comes to certain posts such as SSGL CGL has three posts which have specific criteria of subject combinations at 10+2 level/graduation, or in some banking exams there may be requirement of 50%-60% aggregate such as NABARD Grade B Officer, RBI Assistant or RBI Grade B, when it comes to private sector the scope is quite limited though you may do some short term courses as per your subject combinations at graduation or depending on your areas of interest it can range from business, technology, creativity etc, these will be additions to your CV, if you have a interest in teaching or content development for education, then you may explore the opportunities in Ed-Tech industry, with the advent of technology the very definition of education has changed and it's only going to flourish in the time to come as well, other than this you can pursue higher studies to enhance your professional advancements, you can pursue courses such as LLB/MBA as these courses don't require candidates belonging to specific streams, you can do BEd, or pursue master's degree, and later on appear for CSIR NET for pursuing a career in research or become lecturer.

Admission to July Cycle of 2020 got over by last month, usually application form for January cycle in case of IGNOU are released by December itself, but last year due to pandemic admission for July Cycle continued for a long time, there hasn't been any official announcement made regarding commencement of January cycle of 2020 though it might start in upcoming months. you can stay updated at the official website at ignou.ac.in , in case your query is for courses that require entrance exams such as MBA/BEd/BSc Nursing then these application forms are released individually, and it's not done along with degree/diploma/certificate/master programs, for that you have to apply separately and you can get the details by visiting the official website only.

IGNOU closed application form for July 2020 session recently. Last date for admission in the July 2020 admission cycle was extended till 31st December 2020. There is no announcement of schedule for upcoming session. However, the institute will release application form for December 2020 session. You will be able to submit the application form of IGNOU online at ignou.ac.in.
