90 percentile in jee mains might help you out to get admission in NIT but not with cse branch. And, around 48,000 rank is too much to get cse in vit Vellore however vit is well known for its cse placements but if you get cse  seat in vit Chennai then you must join it. Also, with 25k+,there are very less chances to get cs in srm but in anyway you are able to grab that then it's a miracle. To add on, Sastra University is considered better than some of NITs and there are chances for you to get CSE seat in there,so go for it.

Ya you can change your stream, provided if there are seats left in other course as well. 1st year syllabus will be same for everyone so you need not worry. From second year, you get into your department/course you have opted. Some students give up after 1 year, so the college gives an opportunity to change course for students.

As you have mentioned that you have secured 37168 rank in SRM this year. Considering the previous years cutoff it seems difficult for you to get a seat in CSE in any of the chennai campuses. For CSE your rank should be under 20000. However you can try for the NCR campus.

The course fee and extra fee required for books might be a bit high, but the teaching and education system in SRM (Ramapuram) is pretty good and updated. The teachers are helpful, and the best thing about SRM is placements. SRM provides good placement to the students with high salary packages. Frequently visiting companies include: Amazon, Bosch, Google, Deloitte, Microsoft, Dell, IBM, Cisco, etc. If you want to get placed in good companies, you can go for this college. But also keep in mind the overall fee structure of studying in the college. The rest depends on you. The college excels in educating students, and there is no doubt about it.
