Absolutely not, SRM didn't remove IT from their Main campus. May be it is a rumour. IT and CSE are both different departments. CSE is a broad and flexible degree program with the curriculum specifically designed to reflect the depth and breadth of computer science.

IT assists the graduates to attain leadership positions and successfully pursue post graduate studies and research in the field. Different core areas of Information Technology that are covered by our curriculum include programming, networking, web systems, information management and human computer interaction.

As per your SRMJEE rank, there is less chance that you get SRM Chennai. The cut off for Biotechnology in SRM Chennai is around 48,000. You may get Amravati branch through your SRMJEE marks. As per your JEE Mains marks, you may get admission in SRM Chennai. Plus you must have minimum 60% in 10+2.

Both the Engineering branches are equally good. It depends on your passion, interest and skill, which field you choose and how well you perform in that. Placement record for CSE is slightly better than Civil. As SRM is co-education college, both boys and girls take admission. Follow your passion and chase your dream by opting the stream you have interest in.
