    About Calicut University

    Calicut University (CU) was established in 1968. University of Calicut is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. As per the NIRF ranking 2021 for the university category, the varsity has been ranked 60th whereas its NIRF ranking for the year 2020 in the same category was 54. The university has been ranked 95th in the overall category in the NIRF rankings of 2021. Calicut University Kerala has 34 postgraduate and research departments and 3 centres. At present, 392 colleges are affiliated to it. The varsity campus is spread over an area of 547 acres. Calicut University aims to nurture academic excellence and it promotes productive research.

    The University of Calicut offers a total of 37 programmes at postgraduate level in branches like humanities, language, engineering etc. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) course offered by the university is approved by AICTE. Admission to Calicut University is offered based on the score obtained by candidates in the entrance exam conducted by the university and the merit of the last qualifying exam.     The campus offers facilities to its students which help them in finishing their studies without any hindrance and discomfort. Calicut University facilities include computer labs, wifi, bank, ATM, cafeteria, library, hostels etc. The university library- C.H.Mohammed Koya Library was established in 1971. It has lakhs of books and thousands of e-journals for students. CU also has accommodation provision for outstation students.     To centralise and streamline the admission process, University of Calicut established the Directorate of Admission (DoA) in 2014. All the students willing to take admission in courses offered by the varsity need to register on the University of Calicut admission portal.
