Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Tamil is a full-time three-year undergraduate degree course offered by the university of Madras, Chennai.

Tamil literature has a rich and long literary tradition spanning more than two thousand years and is taught to the students who want to increase their competence and knowledge in Tamil literature and language. The course focuses on the study of Poetry, Fiction, History, Literature, and other lingual skills about the language. This programme is designed in a way where the students understand the language discourse and linguistic concepts from a functional grammar perspective. Also, the students gain rare insights into a range of literary styles, periods and genresof Tamil language. The efficient staff members of the department strive to make the students get job both in private and public sectors after the completion of the course.


Eligibility Criteria

A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
