Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college hostel with all modern facilities is available for 50 students. It is situated within the campus and is equipped with all modern amenities such as television sets, water coolers, electric lights, flush lavatories, a recreation room, a neat and hygienic mess, and a spacious dining room. The Hostel Committee ensures the welfare of the border. Library facilities and coaching are also made available to the resident scholars. Seats in the hostel are limited and no one can claim admission in the hostel as a matter of right. It is compulsory for every girl seeking admission to the hostel to bring her father/guardian with her at the time of admission. A younger sister/brother will not be accepted as a guardian.

The College Library is a well-equipped, partially automated, two-storied library with a spacious seating arrangement. The library houses over 33,000 books, including a good collection of rare study material, national and international journals, and Punjabi, English, and Hindi biographies. In addition to this, it houses several Reference books, Magazines, Newspapers, Audio-video cassettes, CDs, Maps, and Manuscripts. A salient feature of the library is the preservation of Back Sets of journals. Also, it is the only library in the Jalandhar Cantt area that provides open membership to one and all. The library has subscribed to INFLIBNET whereby more than 6000 e-journals, 3135000 e-books, and bibliographic databases are made available to faculty members and students through the N-LIST program. The library is arranged according to DDC's 23rd latest edition and provides an open shelf system with a Bar Coding facility. The library offers low-cost Internet and Reprography services to the users.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.

The College is having an Auditorium Audio-Visual Room, which is used by all the departments. This Multipurpose room is used for subject lectures, guest lectures, seminars, presentations, departmental activities, and workshops. It is equipped with Multimedia Projectors and OHP. Various departments, clubs, and societies are regularly using an Audio-Visual room.

The college has a cafeteria facility which is a spacious and well-furnished canteen that has been provided for the convenience of the students. In the banquet hall of the canteen, get-togethers and parties can be organized by the staff and the students. As the college is fully concerned with the proper nourishment of the students, a neat canteen well stocked with nutritious food welcomes the staff and students. The rates are fixed at the start of the session.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students

The college computer lab is equipped with more than 115 Computers,2 LCD projectors,4 Laptops, and an internet lab.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college has excellent infrastructure and learning resources to impart sound training in various games and sports such as Judo, Weight Lifting, Power Lifting, Volleyball, Badminton, Ball Badminton, Table Tennis, Squash, Lawn Tennis, Athletics, Yoga, Kho kho & Tug-of-war.

The college has good networking for an alumni association.

The college runs its buses at very reasonable rates. Ten college buses fetch the students from 107 villages situated by the Jalandhar - Hoshiarpur Road.

The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

The college has a Swimming Pool facility for all students.

To prepare the students for the job market, the college has a ‘Placement Assistance Cell’. This cell makes arrangements for sending the students to job fairs organized by different institutions. Information regarding various academic courses, competitive exams, and vacancies is provided to students through notice boards.

The college has established a ‘Red Ribbon Health Club’. Various activities like Blood Donation camps, eye checkup camps, Aids Awareness Programmes, Dental Checkups, etc. are done under the banner of this club.
