Its a nice college if someone wants to opt for regardless of infrastructure. faculty members are really good and helpful, if u want to learn something or curious about something they give their full time to it. college commences different kinds of functions as freshers party, teachers day, technical fest (Bits to Bytes), annual fest (Impulse),sports event(Blitzkrieg),etc. coming to the infrastructure , its not so good. It has only one main building. Placements mostly depends on the market demand, but the companies coming on campus are really good, many large product based companies like ThoughWorks,Directi, etc comes to recruit us .

First to start with, this college is quite good in all respects except the hostel. The campusing here is descent with students bagging a very average package. TCS is the main recruiter here. The college will organise enough training sessions to prepare you for the job interviews. Trust me if you have a good CGPA then it's not at all a difficult task to get a job. There are also a lot of recreational activities like cultural fest, tech fest and college sports throughout the year. The hostel is not very good, you can choose a mess(there are quite a lot of mess available). Overall this college is good.

Best industry exposure but bad infrastructure

First i will tell all the good thing about this college. The faculty of this college is good but the best thing about them are that they are very approachable. They give the best industry exposure to train us for getting a job. Attending these training programmes really helps you(I find them very helpful). Now one thing bad about this college is the hostel. The hostel is quite a distance away from the college. However the food provided is up to the mark. Now the most important thing - the placement. As I have seen, many seniors get jobs in good companies with a average salary. However it also depends on the individual.

This college has a average(ok ok type) infrastructure and the library is not so good. The college faculty is also not very experienced. The college cultural fest is the most awaited event of every year. However there are quite a few trainings spread throughout the year to prepare the students for jobs. The placement is quite decent with TCS being the mass recruiter here. Overall the college life of good.

Awesome,Encouraging and Motivating Environment of My College

My college ranked 5th in West Bengal and 91st in India. Faculty strength of my college is very good. Excellent teacher-student ratio and friendlier environment give enormous pleasure and interest in study. To give advantages to students during placement,my college is always trying to organize many seminars of eminent personalities(like professors, guest lecturers) and Technical Meets of Alumni and current students. The exciting and one of the best technical fests in West Bengal is organized annually by 3rd years,4th years and alumni section of my college. Besides technical studies, sports and cultural programs are also organized by my college. Due to these events, the bonding between students and faculty gets stronger. The hostel facility of our college is very good. There are different hostels in different locations in Kolkata where the environment of living and study of students is very good and safe. Though I do not avail hostel facility, I know very well about that because many of my friends avail that facility. The teaching technique of professors is extremely good. But sometimes I feel that there remains a communication gap between students and professors as many of the students of my stream are from different states and castes. The fees of my college is a bit lower than most of the private engineering colleges. Very often, the deadline of submitting fees is delayed by college to give relief and advantage to the students from economically backward classes.

About College:

The Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT) in Kolkata was established in the year 2000. It is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and also approved by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The MAKAUT was formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The institute has also been accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). It is managed by the Techno Group. There are two campuses for the BIT. One is for the biotechnology department alone, the other is the main one, for all other courses. The BIT campus has been showcased on several videos shot and displayed on the website.

Courses available at the Bengal Institute of Technology are at both the UG and PG levels. At the UG level, B.Tech programmes are available with four main specializations. These are in the areas of – Information Technology (IT), Biotechnology, Electronics & Communications Engineering and in Computer Science & Engineering. Also, on offer at this level is the BCA (Bachelors of Computer Application). At the PG level, on offer is the MCA (Masters of Computer Application). All these academics is run by a cohort of five main departments, each with expertise in its own area. The five departments here are in the areas - Information Technology, Biotechnology, Computer Application, Electronics & Communications Engineering and for Computer Science & Engineering. Admissions to these programmes is via the central or state recognized exams such as JEE Mains or WBJEE.

Research is one of the primary areas of focus here at the Bengal Institute of Technology Kolkata. Some of the research has been done in collaboration with organizations such as the DST (Department of Science and Technology) and the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). A Radio Astronomy Lab has also been instituted within this campus by the Techno India Group. This has captured the sounds of rotation of the planet Jupiter. There is also a collaboration set in place in Germany where students from the BIT are sent periodically for a robotics training programme. The off-beat inter-disciplinary papers are the focus at the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) conference held regularly where the BIT students and faculty are proactive participants.

The facilities at any institute need to keep up with its lofty mission and vision. The BIT has done remarkably well in this regard. Its central library is especially well-known. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. There are also state-of-the-art laboratories to help in scientific experiment and research. The equipment are the latest updated ones. But most innovative is probably the alliance with the SAP. The BIT is a member of the SAP University Alliances. Under this agreement, the German software giant provides its software for students to work with during their practical studies. The company also helps in curriculum design, which will make it more industry-oriented.

Thanks to the BIT’s association with the Techno India Group, students also gain access to other group institutions. They offer academics in other fields such as business management or law. The Techno India Group Business School (TIGBS) even offers dual degree programmes for a UG plus PG combo for both law and management. The student life is one of massive excitement over here, as it is filled with a plethora of activities. The Techno India Group publishes a periodic newsletter called the Techno Times, where the achievements of the Bengal Institute of Technology are also mentioned. The Bengal Institute students may also write for the Techno Times. Technical contests, tech fests, intercollegiate events and talent hunts are conducted here. Similarly, there is also ample focus on extracurricular activities such as drama, fashion shows and sports. Ample facilities are provided for all of these, especially towards outdoor sports. The BIT also has extensive coverage on social media, being among the first ones to take advantage of digital marketing within the state. It has well- established social media handles on platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and on Google Plus.

Thanks to the relative time span that has now been heralded, the Bengal Institute of Technology has an impressive alumni list. Several of its students are now based in top organizations at senior positions. This extensive alumni network has further fuelled excellent placements for the institute. Some of the key recruiters in recent seasons have been the likes of – Infosys, HP, IBM, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and TCS. The rankings of the Bengal Institute of Technology have similarly gone up. The institute has been placed at 91st rank all India in the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) among engineering colleges for its research and teaching. Within the engineering category, if all factors are considered, then the BIT finds itself within the 151-200 band. The Careers 360 magazine has rated the Bengal Institute of Technology at AAA+ grade.
