Bhairab Ganguly College, Kolkata Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has a Central Library which is the nerve center for all academic activities of the Institute. It is located on the first floor of the Central Building, spreading over 3,700 sq feet. The library is partly air-conditioned and equipped with modern IT applications. There is a separate reading room for faculty and students. The sitting capacity of the reading room of the library is 60 readers. Local Area Network (LAN) connection exists including wireless and WiFi throughout the library premises. Users are able to connect to the library computer as well as their own devices through the library network. The library security surveillance system is equipped with modern CCTV cameras. The Library is computerized with KOHA library management software. OPAC facilities are available through the campus network. It is automated and is one of the most modern technical libraries at West Bengal State University.

The College department is equipped with a well-organized laboratory for all three specializations (Organic, Inorganic, Physical) in Chemistry. Modern instruments and varied stock of chemicals are available which the students can handle freely under the supervision of experienced teachers.

The college has an auditorium named Alapan, with the capacity of accommodating 400 audiences and enabled with all up-to-date equipment is being used to organize all the vital events and ceremonies in the college.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The college provides an accidental Insurance Scheme of up to Rs. 20,000/- per student. Every Student is a member of Students’ Health Home, Kolkata, and can avail of treatment from there. The medical Unit of the College is visited by Doctors. A local doctor is called to attend to any emergency situation and an ambulance service is arranged, when necessary.

The college departmental computer laboratory has thirteen computers and an Editing Machine (Apple Mac.). Under the supervision of the teachers, the students operate this equipment to develop their subject-specific skills. A television set, music system, radio set, camera, and internet facilities are available in the department.

The college has the construction of an 8 lane 50-meter Swimming Pool (with a filtration plant) underway and is expected to be completed this year. This has been partially funded by the UGC and the remaining fund will be accommodated through the matching grant of the college. This helps the swimmers of the college as well as the swimmers of the students of other colleges in the district and north Kolkata metropolis.

The college has an air-conditioned, 12-stationed gymnasium that has been set up to increase the physical agility of the students under the careful guidance of an experienced trainer.

The college takes pride in possessing a playground with the capacity of hosting state-level tournaments. This facilitates the students to inculcate their athletic faculties at their best in athletic meets and games like football, cricket, volleyball, etc.

The college has WiFi networks are available for the students and teachers on the college campus.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
