EMG Yadava Women's College, Madurai Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College has a girls' hostel, where 1500 students reside in spacious and hygienic rooms. The inmates are given coaching in Yoga, Hindi, Tailoring, and Karate. The most noticeable aspect in our hostel is the provision of the English Daily newspaper ‘Times of India’, which is read by the students every day to update their knowledge on current events and enhance their vocabulary. To make the students stay fresh throughout, walking is made mandatory for I- and II-year students.

The College Library and Learning Resource Centre should support academic progress. The library is dedicated to supporting the students’ activities and programs of the institution. It accomplishes the college mission by maintaining up–to–date collections of books, journals, audio-visual items, and other library materials related to study. To the existing 34883 books, 5000 volumes of books from the regular Account and 3366 books from the SF account were added. Totally 43249 books are available. The library subscribes to five leading daily newspapers, 120 journals, and magazines relating to different subjects. An open-access system of reference for easy accessibility is available for both UG & PG students. 546 audio and video cassettes and 714 back volumes of periodicals are available. The whole college community has the benefit of the open access system. The Library is decentralized - General Library and Thirteen Departmental Libraries.

The College has an institutional food service unit that is run by our College for the benefit of both Hostel and Day Scholar students. Snacks, beverages, and lunch food items are kept for sale at a reasonable price.

The College has Wi-Fi modems with internet bandwidth is provided to all departments.

The College has Courts for Basketball, Volleyball, Throw the ball, Hockey, Kho-kho, kabaddi, Tennis, badminton, Tennicoit, etc.

The College has a Bank Facility. To cater to the needs of our students, Staff, College Administration, and the public, Karur Vysya Bank (A Public Sector Undertaking) is functioning within our college campus.

The College has a parking facility. The Students can park their two-wheelers / four-wheelers on the campus safely in the place allotted to them.

The College has a Co-operative store that is run by the old students of our college, from which the students can get stationery items at a reasonable rate.

The College has a Digital Language Lab; there are 80 headsets with a computer and an audio recording system, table mikes, cordless mikes, an LCD projector, 30 cassettes, and 41 CD’s on Spoken English (American English, Business English, European English, and Effective Communication) available in the Digital Language Lab. It can accommodate 60 students at a time. Students attend classes on an hourly basis. The Digital Language Lab is utilized for Part-II spoken English classes for all disciplines, Language-oriented major papers, job-oriented papers, and a certificate course in Spoken English. To promote critical ability and aesthetic sense, English films are screened for literature students. Digital Language Lab helps to produce employable graduates.

The alumnae association was started in the year 1975 to establish a link between the alumnae and the college. Making a good rapport with the successive generations of alumnae is upheld through the database.

The college has an Entrepreneurial Club that functions in the college, which motivates students to become women entrepreneurs & raises awareness about Institutional support and incentives from the government. It stresses the thrust of Entrepreneurship.

The college has workshop facilities for students.

The college has to keep stress at bay and to enable the students to tolerate the potential stress associated with life. E.M.G.Yadava Women's College organizes yoga sessions every morning, which are mandatory for all the students and faculty members. It helps them to maintain harmony of body and spirit, and it also provides NSS and Skill development programmes for the students.

The college has a Placement Cell that contacts the organizations to find out their recruitment plan for the year. Alternately, the organizations inform the Placement Cell about the available opportunities and apprise them of their skill set requirement in the form of a job description through email or phone.
