Ph.D. program in English Literature shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including coursework and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned and offered by the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.


Eligibility Criteria

M.A. Linguistics/ M.A. Phonetics/ M.A. Applied Linguistics/ M.A. English (which includes papers/courses in Linguistics or Phonetics) with 55% marks for general/OBC (creamy-layer) candidates, and 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled candidates

OR

M.Phil. Linguistics/ M.Phil. Phonetics/ M.Phil. Applied Linguistics/ M.Phil.English (with specialization in Linguistics or Phonetics)

OR

PGDTE/PGCTE with at least a ‘B+’ grade for general/OBC candidates, ‘B’ grade for SC/ST category candidates, OR Pursuing any of the qualifying programs mentioned above (provided the candidate has passed the examination by the time of admission and has scored the minimum eligibility marks as mentioned above).

Admission Details

You will have to qualify for a written test which you can take in any of the Test centers; the interview, however, will be conducted in Lucknow.
