The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to 1st year Engineering, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Fashion & Design, Architecture Assistantship, Fashion Designing & Garment Technology, and Film Technology & TV Production diploma courses in Government / Private Polytechnics of Himachal Pradesh is that the candidate must have passed 10th standard with 35% marks at the qualifying examination from a recognized Board/University or its equivalent (As prescribed by the AICTE in its Approval Process Handbook)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 2nd year in Polytechnics under Lateral Entry Scheme: 

The candidate must have passed 12th Science (with Mathematics as one of the subjects) or / 12th Science with Vocational or/ 12th Science with Technical or/ 10th + ITI/COE(2 years duration) with appropriate specialization as per AICTE norms.(List of Suggestive Branche for ITI/COE)
