Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College, Ludhiana Offline Course

I. Admission is based on marks obtained in 10th for the first year and, for the second year, marks obtained in +2.

(1) Rural reservation

In the institution, overall 70% of seats shall be filled by the students hailing from rural areas in Punjab. Rural area means an area located outside the limits of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committee, Notified Area Committee, Cantonment Board, Township & University campus. A student hailing from a rural area means:

(i) His/her parents are permanently residing in the rural area as defined above.

(ii) He/She has studied for a minimum period of 3 years from a recognized/affiliated school located in a rural area.

(iii). He/She has passed 5th/8th/10th or 10+2 from a school/college located in rural area. Sons/ Daughters of defense personnel / Ex-defense personnel residing permanently in a rural area are exempted from clause (i) & (ii).

Note: Candidates seeking admission under Rural Category should fill the Form No.11 given in the Board prospectus.

(2) Sikh Minority Community Reservation

In the Institution, 50% seats are exclusively reserved for the members of the Sikh minority community, and the student should clear the Sikh Minority Test conducted by the SGPC, Sri Amritsar.

(3) Other reservations shall be as per reservation policy given by Government of Punjab.

II. Lateral Entry (LEET) (For admission in 2nd year)

For admission directly in 2nd year of diploma courses, the candidates must have passed one of the following examinations:

1. ITI with two years (who have passed 10th Level School Leaving Examination before admission to ITI courses) with a minimum of 60% marks from any institution of Punjab/Other state.

2. 10 + 2 vocational examination in various branches with a minimum of 60% marks from any institution of Punjab/Other State.

3. 10 + 2 Science with a minimum of 60% marks from any institution of Punjab/Other State.

4. Two-year certificate course with a minimum of 60% marks from SLIET Longowal and have Punjab Domicile. In the event of vacancies lying unfilled, candidates who have passed the ITI at least with one year (who have passed 10th level School leaving examination before admission to ITI Courses) or 10 + 2 Board shall also be eligible to be considered for admission.
