Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Nautical Science is a full-time three-year undergraduate degree course offered by the Indian Maritime University, Chennai, and is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping (Government of India)

It is a residential 3-year undergraduate program that prepares students for a career as a deck officer in the merchant navy or in the maritime industry. Graduates of the program are qualified to work as deck officers on ships of all sizes and types, including cargo vessels, tankers, passenger ships, and offshore vessels.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects from a recognized board.

Minimum Marks:
60% aggregate marks in PCM in 12th Std.
50% marks in the English subject in 10th/12th Std.

AGE LIMIT

Maximum Age Limit:
Male:
General-25 years, OBC (NCL) – 28 years, (SC/ST-30 years)

Female:
General-27 years, OBC (NCL) – 30 years(SC/ST-32 years)

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

Eye-Sight:
Unaided vision: 1.0(6/6) in better eye and 0.67(6/9) in another eye.

Eye Health:
No eye conditions, full eye movement, normal pupil response, excellent binocular vision. No color blindness, tested with Ishihara Chart.

Physical Fitness:
Candidates must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended, and need to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by a D.G. Shipping-approved doctor.

College Infrastructure

HIMT college has excellent infrastructure. Well maintained classroom and equipped library, Basic skill workshop, Ship in Campus, Outdoor ground and Seamanship lab. Special mention to the VR lab which provides engaging and innovative learning experience. They provide separate hostels for male and female cadets maintaining privacy and comfort.

College Infrastructure

Infrastructure of HIMT College is pretty good. There are various labs for practical experience.The classrooms are air conditioned and equipped with smart boards. VR and AR are the main source of attraction here and SHIP IN CAMPUS gives you the taste of real experience. Everything is well maintained and hygiene wise also it is good.

The infrastructure in HIMT college is one of the best thing which provides you with best environment for your development for being a skilled seafarer. The classes, labs ( BSW lab, AMW, SS lab), steering stimulator and special mention to ship in campus which has played a vital role in displaying all on-board experiences on land in HIMT college. Also the VR and AR lab brings the real experience infront of you which makes you to learn and train while interacting with things onboard.
