HIMT College Chennai Admission Process
Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT) Kalpakkam admission is open for the diploma and undergraduate (UG) courses in the Engineering and Architecture and Sciences streams. HIMT admissions are open for Diploma, B.Sc., and B.E./B.Tech courses.
HIMT admission is for the candidates who scored the best in IMU CET. Along with that, it qualifies for the lowest entry. Toppers are based on their overall score in the qualifying exam. After that, the shortlisted candidates for HIMT admissions will be called for the next round.
Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training admission will take place after the verification of documents and the payment of the course fee. HIMT Admissions 2026 for UG Courses
Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT) offers two full-time undergraduate degree programmes, namely Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). The duration of the B.Sc. course is 3 years and that of the B.Tech. is 4 years.

HIMT Admission Process 2026 for B.Sc and B.Tech
Candidates have to qualify the necessary eligibility criteria

Candidates must have taken the IMU CET exam and have a valid scorecard.
The admission list of HIMT will be based only on the basis of the performance of the candidates in their last academic records and the IMU CET entrance exam.
Selected candidates will be required to produce all the necessary documents along with the payment of the HIMT course fee.
HIMT B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission Process 2026
Candidates have to meet the required eligibility criteria

Candidates should have appeared for the IMU CET exam and should hold a valid scorecard.

The College provides academic excellence and practical exposure by providing supportive and well experienced faculties along with technologies necessary for interactive learning. Their approach to teaching makes learning exciting and all the more fun.
College Infra
HIMT college has excellent infrastructure. Well maintained classroom and equipped library, Basic skill workshop, Ship in Campus, Outdoor ground and Seamanship lab. Special mention to the VR lab which provides engaging and innovative learning experience. They provide separate hostels for male and female cadets maintaining privacy and comfort.
Campus Life
Campus life is vibrant with good balance between academics, training and extra curricular activities. Various events and opportunities makes college life memorable while helping to develop confidence and friendship amongst all the fellow cadets.
Placements
I’m currently on my third year, pursuing BSc Nautical science in HIMT. I’m glad HIMT has great placement quality. The college has reputable companies where a high percentage of cadets are placed throughout all the courses.
Value For Money
The fees I would say is reasonable considering the quality of education, infrastructure and training. The faculties and exposure to various opportunities itself would make this college a great example of value for money.

Academics
I am currently in the third year of Bsc Nautical Science and HIMT has helped me in building strong academic foundation. Faculties are highly experienced and quality of teaching is very good. The knowledge shared is up to date and includes recent developments of the field which is very helpful for the upcoming seafarers.
College Infra
Infrastructure of HIMT College is pretty good. There are various labs for practical experience.The classrooms are air conditioned and equipped with smart boards. VR and AR are the main source of attraction here and SHIP IN CAMPUS gives you the taste of real experience. Everything is well maintained and hygiene wise also it is good.
Campus Life
HIMT College prepares you well for life at sea. The discipline and safety here is the best. College strictly follows anti ragging policies. Our campus has strict rules regarding alcohol and harrasment. Cadets are focused as it creates safe environment for them. The college take good care of physical as well as mental health of the cadets as well. Overall college is best for future seafarers.
Placements
Many good companies come here for placements. I sat for MOLTA interview and got placed. College is very supportive and help us for placements by taking mock interviews and classes. The involvement of faculties for the preparation and their guidance is excellent.
Value For Money
According to me HIMT College is value-for- money. The college provides good infrastructure. Faculties help us to develop both technical as well as professional skills. Management is very supportive too. Apart from academics, college also encourages cadets to participate in various extra curricular activities and cultural events.

Academics
All faculties in HIMT college are highly skilled and experienced. As in Nautical Science stream mostly captains come over for taking classes which makes the class more intellectual and interesting. All the cadets learn by their experiences. The teaching methods are so good and even by using practical examples doubts are resolved.
College Infra
The infrastructure in HIMT college is one of the best thing which provides you with best environment for your development for being a skilled seafarer. The classes, labs ( BSW lab, AMW, SS lab), steering stimulator and special mention to ship in campus which has played a vital role in displaying all on-board experiences on land in HIMT college. Also the VR and AR lab brings the real experience infront of you which makes you to learn and train while interacting with things onboard.
Campus Life
Campus Life is really great as there is no alcohol and no harrasment policy in HIMT college which is strictly followed. The environment provided makes the campus Life more cheerful and engaging. After academic hours we have jamming sessions, gym facilities, several events and sports activities for our physical and mental health as well. Overall HIMT is a great choice for carry forwarding your career in merchant Navy.
Placements
Placements are extremely good in HIMT college as for Nautical cadets. Many well reputed companies come in HIMT for recruitment and select Good amount of cadets. I got a chance to sit in MOLMI placement drive and I got placed. Placement support is a great help for the cadets as everyone is trained by mock interviews and exams prior going for company placements.
Value For Money
Yes I would say HIMT college is value for money as all the aspects have been a part of this maritime journey and everything over here like infrastructure, placements, academics, extra curricular activities and support from management all have been a great support for enhancing this marvelous journey.
