The IMS Engineering College (IMSEC) is located in the city of Ghaziabad, in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Ghaziabad, is also a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) surrounding Delhi, and so needless to say, this college benefits from its prime positioning within a business hub. The IMS Engineering College in Ghaziabad, was established in the year 2002. It is affiliated to the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), located in the state capital of Lucknow. The AKTU was earlier known as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). This affiliation, ensures the due approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission).
The technical courses in the institute have been recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Further, the IMSEC has also been accredited by both the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council). An A grade rating has been earned in the latter. A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results. The overall management of the college is run by the IMS Group of Institutions, founded back in the year 1990.
The group runs several educational ventures in the city of Ghaziabad itself. The courses run by the group include engineering, management, journalism, biotechnology and computer applications. The IMSEC also belongs to a select list of colleges in India, which have been ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certified. This college runs programmes right from the UG till doctoral levels. At the undergrad level, B. Tech programmes are available for the engineering areas of- Civil, Mechanical, Bio Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical & Electronics and for Electronics & Communication. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. Tech programmes are on offer.
These are available for- Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, VLSI Design and for Bio Technology. An MBA may also be taken up here. Students may even opt for a doctoral programme for Bio Technology. The entire academics here at the IMSEC, is run by a cohort of nine departments, each with expertise in its own area. Seven of these departments are for the areas in which the B. Tech degree is awarded in. One more is for the MBA. The ninth one is the Department of Applied Sciences. This handles the fundamental sciences of physics, chemistry and mathematics, plus the language courses.
Admissions to the under- grad programmes is via either the national- level JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains or the UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam) conducted by the AKTU. At the master’s stage, it is the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) that holds sway for the admission process. For MBA, the IMSEC considers the scores of the CAT (Common Admission Test) and MAT (Management Aptitude Test). Research is a major area of concern for this college. So, the library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
The Ghaziabad- based IMS Engineering College also periodically releases its own academic and research journal. This helps chronicle all major findings on campus. It is known as Vivechan- International Journal of Research. Besides this, the students also release a college magazine titled The Byte. This, as the name suggests, was started by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE). Unlike the journal which is faculty- led, The Byte is more of a student driven initiative. All this has helped the IMSEC be part of the AAA rating as accorded by the Careers 360 magazine, within the category of engineering colleges.
The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Banking facilities with ATM and convenience stores are available just outside the college campus. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is served at the college cafeteria.
The college even has its own transport to ferry students to and from the campus. The campus placements have also received a substantial boost over the recent seasons. Some of the top recruiters from campus, include the likes of- IBM, Sapient Nitro, TCS, Nestle, IDS Infotech, Hysel, Midas Care, Allied Market Research, Aptara, MAQ Software, Wipro, Mphasis, JKT, KPIT, HP, NIIT, NTT Data, Accenture, HCL, Genpact, Birla Soft, Sopra Steria, Coca- Cola, NEC Technologies, MN, Saint Gobain, Kamdhenu Group, Religare, Voice Tree, HDFC, ABP, Fiserv, Airtel, Kent Mineral RO and several others. In recent years, the IMSEC has also been a hub attracting some of the top celebrities to campus, over live performances.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
