Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a graduate degree course in the Ayurvedic system. This degree is awarded after the completion of 5 5-year and 6-month degree programs containing 4 and 1/2-year academic sessions and a one-year internship program.

BAMS is an Ayurveda traditional healing art-based undergraduate medical program in India.

Ayurveda is one of the ancient medical systems of the world. It traces its roots to the Vedic period. It is a trustful medical system to cure, prevent, and rejuvenate. The Ayurvedic system of medical care is based on the concept that the natural healing capacity of the body is being enhanced by Ayurvedic therapy.

The Ayurvedic treatment includes reducing symptoms, eliminating impurities, reducing worry, increasing disease resistance, and increasing harmony in the patient’s life.

BAMS syllabus and curriculum are uniform across the country and admission to BAMS courses is done in only Ayurvedic colleges affiliated to the respective universities, which are permitted by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).

Even the World Health Organisation has provided a worldwide forum for promoting traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda. Therefore, the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) course has opened up many promising opportunities for students.
