Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-year, six-month course (includes 4.5 years of curriculum plus one year of rotating internship) offered by Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna, and approved by the NMC.

The MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) Programme has been designed taking into account the multidimensional approach to health care, patient care, teaching and research. The vision of the programme is to produce Physicians & Surgeons to the health needs of the society, state & the country, capable of ministering to those needs and be aware of the necessity of continuing their own education. More emphasis will be towards imparting ethical and socially responsible knowledge and skills required for the prevention and treatment of disease.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: The candidate must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before December 31st of the year of admission, i.e. the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S. The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years as of the date of examination, with relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST category.


Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination will be 40% instead of 50% for general candidates. Further, for persons with locomotor disabilities of the lower limbs, a minimum of 45% marks for general-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are appearing in the Class XII examination in the current year can also appear for the entrance test provisionally, subject to fulfilling the conditions later.

Admission Details

Admission Criteria: All the seats are allotted through BCECE counselling conducted by the Bihar Government as per the merit secured in the UNDER GRADUATE-NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG-NEET).
