B.Sc. Biochemistry is a three year honours course and it deals with the chemistry of biological processes. It creates a scientific understanding of the growth, metabolism, reproduction, heredity etc. as well as the effect of the environment on living organisms. Bio-Chemistry can be pursued by those having a good knowledge of Biology, chemistry & physics. The course comprises of papers on bio-organic chemistry, bio-physical chemistry, metabolism, human physiology, microbiology, genetics, immunology, enzymology, clinical biochemistry, nutritional biochemistry, environmental biochemistry etc. Biochemistry aims to prepare competent student for research, teaching, industry or self employment and entrepreneurship programmes. Biochemists are in great demand in sectors like medicine, pharmaceutical, food processing industry, agriculture, forensic science, quality control laboratories etc.
