Sathaye College, Mumbai Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College library was founded in 1959, i.e., when the college was established. Initially, there was only the Degree College Library with two faculties, viz. Arts and Science. In 1975 Junior College Library with all three faculties, i.e., Arts, Commerce, and Science, was started. Further, in 1980, +2 Vocational Minimum Competency Courses were introduced. In the year 1982-83 Commerce Faculty was introduced. The Degree Course for B.Sc.(I.T.) was introduced inthe  Library Budget in the year 2002-03. The B.M.S. Degree course was started in the year 2003-04. B.M.M. course for Marathi Mass Media was introduced in the year 2010. The collection of books on various subjects grew in number with the development of the college. So a separate Lending Section was developed in the year of 1985. 

The College has Laboratories that are well equipped with different instruments and chemicals like Spectrophotometer, PH meters, Conductivity meters, Furnace, Centrifuge Machines, Magnetic Stirrers, Potentiometers, etc, to keep pace with academic growth. Renovation of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry laboratories was carried out. The Department of Chemistry harbors three labs for graduate and Postgraduate students on the ground floor. Departments of Botany (UG & PG), Zoology, and Microbiology have their laboratories on the first floor. The Botany Department has its own Research Laboratory, well equipped with a Computer and Projector, a High-Resolution Binocular Microscope, Electronic Microscope, High-Speed Centrifuge Machines, a Sensitive Digital Balance, etc., on the same floor.

The college is in Vile-Parle (E) is a culturally rich suburb of Mumbai. It is also an educational “ Hub ”. Sathaye College is one of the reputed institutions of Vile-Parle, which has a compact Auditorium with all the modern amenities required for any performing art. It has a capacity of precisely 163 seats, and it is very convenient as well as it gives a joyful experience to any performer due to its good Acoustics. The Auditorium facilitates performances like Dance, Musical Concerts, One-Act Plays, Interviews, Mono-Acts, Lectures, and Presentations etc. It has all the necessary equipment, which is updated from time to time.

The College recently established a central computing facility, the Network Resource Centre, funded by UGC is located on the first floor near the library on the mezzanine floor. It provides 10 computers with basic facilities and internet facilities for the use of students and staff between 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., which helps them in accessing online educational sites.

The College Mini Gymnasium, which has facilities for weight training, Power Lifting Boxing.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The college has Swimming Pool facilities for all students.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The College has it said that the “Reader lives a thousand lives before he dies; The man who never reads lives only once. To encourage the healthy habit of reading, the Book Appreciation Club is run by the teachers & students of Sathaye College. The core purpose of this club is to make the readers understand the value of reading and how they can find loyal friends in a book itself. Many celebrity writers and creative writers often visit the club to interact with students and faculty. The club always engages in one-to-one and group discussions.

The College has an alumni association named “Association of Sathaye Parle Alumni” (ASPA) registered under Registration No. 1132/2008 G.B.B.S.D. dated 17th June 2008. The Alumni meetings are organized once / twice a year by the College. The college the department of microbiology, had organized a Workshop on Bioinformatics for T.Y.B.Sc. students from 17th -19 th March 2022. Dr. Sanket Bapat, Assistant Professor from MIT School of Bioengineering, Pune was invited as a resource person. Students got acquainted with the concept of Database, FASTA, BLAST, and proteomics.
