The college provides a conducive environment for all round development. Academic components are well structured to ensure continuous learning. Syllabus is regularly updated. There is encouragement for extra-curricular activities be it sports, fine arts, performing arts or leadership responsibilities. Placements are decent too. The rules allow up to 2 placements per student. And last but not the least, how many colleges in Mumbai can boast of a huge campus?

1st thing that comes to anybody's mind is that this is a girls college. And how can that be fun? If there is anything that this college has given me is enjoyment, exposure, valuable experience, space to grow, things to learn and build myself which is only because it was an all girls college and we got every opportunity to do all the things by ourselves. Most of all it has given me the confidence to belive in myself. And as far as the placement is concerned, that is better than most of the other universities.

4 Years at UMIT, Amazing Campus but Boring lectures

The only good thing about UMIT is its awesome Campus comprised of Beautiful Green Garden, Big University Library, Auditorium, and Big Basketball court. Professors and their lectures are equally boring as the lectures are based on bookish knowledge and not at all interactive. You would only dare to attend the lectures if you want to get some good sleep. Projects and Syllabus- both are outdated. No Industry Exposure or technical seminars conducted as seen in other colleges.Placement is just OK that too only for CS or IT students. EXTC students suffer the most because a majority of them don't get placed and have to search job on their own.No guidance is given by the professors or the seniors for higher studies. UMIT does not contribute towards overall personality development of students.

Batch of Jan. 1, 2012 | B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
My experience in this college has been OK. College lacks basic infrastructure facilities that limits the technical learning. Most of the computers in the labs are not in a working state and the one that work are out of date. This applies to electronic equipment as well and this makes extremely difficult for EXTC students to implement final year projects. The college management should really take care of these things and improve the infrastructure as they charge huge amount of development fees from students. Being an open category student, the amount of fees that I paid for this service makes this college no value for money. However, the professors are extremely good and very helpful. Some professors provide assignment marks on the basis of attendance! So, one needs to maintain high attendance to score good marks. In the year 2012, majority of the students were placed in Infosys, Deloitte and L&T. EXTC students didn't get much placement opportunities as compared to CSE students. Talking about extracurricular activities, there were lot of technical, cultural and entrepreneurial fests conducted throughout the year. So, if you are a student who is into CS/IT then you consider this college for good learning and placements. Will not recommend this college to an EXTC student.

UMIT campus is good

UMIT is directly managed by the SNDT Women's University. It is located at a walking distance from Santacruz (west) railway station. Courses offered here include Engineering- B.tech in IT, Computer science, and EXTC UMIT is the first building as you enter the very famous and pretty huge SNDT campus. In the 6-storeyed building, the first 4 floors house the UMIT College of engineering and top 2 floors are for students pursuing PG courses. The building, as well as the campus, are well maintained and scores high in the infrastructure domain. As one enters the college building, one can find a vast foyer and a badminton court which is well maintained. A huge SNDT campus has lots of courses and their colleges but has a common canteen. It offers food at a reasonable price and is one of the hangouts for all the students of the entire SNDT campus. A xerox shop, small consumer store is present in the campus which also offers some fast food and chaats options. Festivals: UMIT has student chapters of organisations like the ACM, IEEE, CSI. It is well known for its festivals: the annual cultural festival, ‘ARCANE ILLUSIONS’ and the annual technical festivals ‘REZONANCE’, ‘360 DEGREE’,’ABHIVYAKTI’ organised by the CSI and IEEE student council. To encourage students about Entrepreneurship, there is one more council-ELITE- E-Cell. Placements are average here as around 50% of the batch gets placed. UMIT is a safe and average option for girls.
