General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year and six-month full-time diploma program offered by the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai, and approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).


Eligibility Criteria

Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively. For ANM/LHV, there is no age bar. The minimum educational requirements shall be passing of

  • Pass in +2 with any subject, the percentage of marks is 40% as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • Those who have cleared 10 +2 Vocational ANM courses (revised after 2001) from the school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • ANM training i.e. 10 +1 ½ years training should also have passed +2 its equivalent examination.
  • In addition to the above, admission procedures can be laid down by the concerned State Nursing Council / Nursing Examination Boards (S.I.B.E, M.I.B.E, C.M.A.I).
  • Admission of married candidates is allowed.
  • Candidates should be medically fit.
