Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has fully furnished and fully secured boys hostels with independent rectors, in separate buildings located on a beautiful campus. About more than a hundred boys reside in these hostels today. All the hostels have besides beds, tables, and chairs, the facility of fans, tube lights, night lamps and individual lockers, and a common study room. There are independent Solar water heaters for 24 hours hot water and filters for pure drinking water. Fire extinguishers and inverters have also been installed in all the hostels. There are separate mess facilities for each hostel, where hygienic conditions are strictly maintained.

About 180 girls reside in these hostels today. All the hostels have besides beds, tables, and chairs, the facility of fans, tube lights, night lamps and individual lockers, and a common study room. There are separate mess facilities for each hostel, where hygienic conditions are strictly maintained.

The college has of Science, Karad library has well equipped up-to-date library with varieties of books in science, technology, Competitive Examination Books, other literature. Collection of More than 38528 books. (textbook, reference book, dictionaries, encyclopedia, annual and review books) are available in the library. National and international Scientific journal 24,  Magazine 20, State and national level 10 News Paper as of 31st March 2017 as follows. 

The college has a departmental-based laboratories facility for the students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The college has impact of computers has been felt all over the world and in all areas of life. Over the past twenty-plus years, it has changed the world we live in and redesigned the way we work. To remain in tune with current and advanced trends, the computer laboratory has been established. This laboratory is today well equipped with advanced computers that are connected in a network with a broadband internet facility.

The College has a sports facility with a top-class eight-lane 400m athletics track, football and hockey grounds, and a cricket pitch along with some facilities for outdoor gymnastics.

The college has a good networking for the alumni association.

The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

The college has a section of our college that has reaped the benefits of NAAC accreditation and ISO certification to the fullest. Throughout the year this cell is actively engaged in organising campus interviews of reputed industries such as Bharat Forge Ltd., Thermax Ltd., Lupin India Ltd., Gadre Marine Exports Ltd. CIPLA Ltd., WIPRO LTD., etc who recruit our students in large numbers. The placement cell gathers information of recruitment policies of industries and disseminates it to our students in order that they may participate in the selection process with full confidence. It also maintains a database on current and past students to provide to industries for their recruitment process.

The college has a well equipped and spacious workshop established in 1975 (with funding from UGC), having the facilities of drilling, welding, turning, cutting, grinding, plumbing and carpentry. This workshop functions under the department of Physics and is used for: 

• Fabrication, maintenance and repairs to furniture, cycle stand, grill, cots, etc.
• Provision of assistance in students’ project work.
