IIEST is a moderately good college with a reasonable infrastructure. But yes, a more friendly behavior from the staff is needed since a university should be "for the students". Our college campus lacks a gd library which is open for 24*7. It should have a good computer center with access to websites of good, internationally recognized journals. It should also have better playgrounds. The engineering faculty is quite OK, but certainly, more industry exposure and practical knowledge-based learning is needed. We are mainly taught every subject theoretically and we hardly know what happens in reality.Industry visits are extremely important. College life for me was not so pleasing. Though mostly I am responsible for it. But yes, the hostels should have better atmosphere, better bathrooms, indoor games. There should be cultural fests, interactive sessions with students and teachers of other universities, seminars on interesting topics. I am not particularly concerned about placement but as far as my knowledge is concerned, placement scenario is not so good. I hope it will improve in the upcoming years. College professors are good in general but yes, some of the could have taught in a better, more interesting manner but again, this is common for every college in India. Yes, recently the student intake has increased and the college has become a little moe crowded but it's ok ! In terms of mess fees, tuition fees my college is definitely affordable to a middle-class family.

Nothing too special to share its just like other colleges with INI tag and a good director everything is so normal about this college. College starts from 8 AM and ends generally on 4 PM academics are moderate but there are 1 2 toooo bad teachers here who ruin the taste of great subjects rest teachers are good the core departments are better than others in terms of both placement and academics but the fee is a bit high if the standard of college is concerned student quality is moderate but far away from being one of the best colleges. the campus is very old and needs heavy renovation to look good also the college lacks big auditorium which creates much problem for big seminars to be organized the library also lacks sufficient books so there is also a rush for getting books when it is prescribed also many students get deprived of issuing the prescribed book due to lack of books so the college needs much boost in infrastructure some many private institutes have better infrastructure than this college

Good Campus and Great Education

IIEST was always among the top Institutes proving excellent education in engineering. Now it is An Institute Of National Importance. Now, what are the things that makes it good? Firstly, it has a great alumni base as it is one of the oldest Engineering Institutes. It was established in 1856. Also the placement is quite good. Many good companies have visited. For CSE and IT, Microsoft recruited 7 students, DirectI, SAP Labs, DXCorr etc. For ECE( here known as ETC) companies like TEXAS Instruments came. Also every year one or two students receive great offers over 30 lakhs from Google. And if you are interested in core departments like Mechanical, Electrical and Civil many great companies have visited. These are:- Tata Steel, Tata Metallics, Tata Bluescope, Linde, Elite Marine Services, Voltas, Bluestar, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Forster Wheeler, MN Dastur, Vedanta, Bridge and Roof Ltd., Haldia Petrochemicals, L&T., CESC, Hindustan Unilever, Lafarge, Lexmark ITD Cementation, Britannia etc. PSUs like Coal India recruit every year over 20 students. Other good non core companies that recruit students are Deloitte, ZS Associates, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Mu Sigma etc. They give good package and Profiles. The performance of students in Gate is also quite good. 4 students got selected in IOCL, 1 in NTPC. Also IIEST Shibpur has signed several MOUs with companies like BHEL, Sankalp Semiconductors, Tata Technologies etc and many others among them. So you can see even after becoming an Indian Institute just before 3 years, it has performed better than many NITs. Comparing with other NITs it has done very well. Its placement is just behind top NITs like Warrangal, Trichy, Suratkhal, Allahabad and Nagpur. Otherwise it has placement as good as other NITs and almost better than most of the average and lower ranked NITs. The infrastructure at IIEST is becoming better every year and so are the placements. NOTE: Also IIEST will provide a 4 year EXIT Option to all the Students enrolled in its 5 year BTech-Mtech Dual Degree. So do not remove IIEST from your choice thinking that you do not want a Dual Degree. You can do only BTech for 4 years if you do not want Masters from here. Also it is just 20 minutes away from Howrah Station and is about 15 minutes to Kolkata. It has very good Road Connectivity. So choose IIEST.

IIEST Shibpur is 160 year old college. It is classified as an Institute of National Importance. The conversion process of BESU to IIEST is mentored by IIT Kanpur . Our central government providing a lot of fund and support to this college. But there is still some problem such as lack of infrastructure, dominance of Bengali culture (it will decrease with time as it was state government college till 2014).If we talk about professors of our college they are very good in their work.Lab infrastructure in this college is not good but with some time it will improve as government is providing huge amount of money. Placement of some branches are really good such as mechanical, electrical, mining. This year placement of mining is very good.8 students are selected by coal india.By some time college will get some more attention by industry and placement will increse .Infrastructure will improve by time.

The campus of this institute is very eco-friendly, full of greenery, and well maintained. The Professors are erudite. This is one of the oldest institutes. The class timings are quite rigid and the students do have to maintain an attendance of 75%. Now being a national graded institute and with a new course, that is the dual degree course, the chances of getting good placement is expected. But so far as the placement records are concerned, they not that high. To be very frank the Mechanical department is the best department of this institute. If you are planning to do research in the near future, then I would say that lots and lots of research works are going on in this college.
