Batch of 2018 | B.Tech Civil Engineering
Refral code DM6ZEB Just like all other students aspiring to become NITians and afterwards wondering how the college would be, I had small dreams and assumptions filled in my mind about how it was going to come out. Ofcourse it didn't turn out anything like that but some things were great and some dull about this college as far as my experiences go. some people might wonder then why did I write the title in positive. Well, I have my reasons. This place is the most wonderful place I have been to so far in these 20 years. This college has also a beautiful campus which provides a source of refreshment for us exhausted engineers. Moreover what else can one say when the college is situated on the paradise of earth that too on the banks of the great Dal? The infrastructure is bearable as the buildings date back to 70's and the first year students have to spend most of their time in attics which become unbearable in summers. And for the lecturers, they teach well if we talk of the permanent faculty but most of the Freshers are left to contractuals which are poor at their work. Then in higher semesters HODs and permanent faculty take care of main stream subjects and the easy ones are still left to the contractuals some of whom are good and some are really bad.Students have to take care of their studies themselves as the professors are busy completing the syllabus and most of the times one chapter is completed in a single lecture (shocking huh??)but we being engineers are so much used to these things now that it doesn't affect us . We now don't even frown if we get 2/20 and sideline it with a laugh. So far these things have taught me to face the problems of my life and so does every engineering college as someone put it rightly that an engineering college may or may not teach you how to solve engineering problems but it surely teaches you how to face and solve life problems. I have gained a lot after coming to this college, friends, memories, wonderful experiences, professors(moody though) and I feel so much blessed to be a part of this not so perfect place. Hostel life is great too as far as I have heard( me being a day scholar). There is gym, free wifi, dj parties, and a lot more. Moreover there are seminars, workshops, clubs you can join, sports, tech fests, fresher parties and convocations held every year. In short just like any other college this place has its own shortcomings and benefits but as far as my experience goes so far, I've enjoyed this place a lot.

The infrastructure of the college not be that developed but in terms of faculty it is top class. The presence of Dal lake at the back boundary of the college provides the best atmosphere you can have. What else I can say after all it is an NIT and everyone knows about the level of the NITs in India.
