Swami Vivekananda University, Kolkata was established in 2019 by Regent Education and Research Foundation Trust, Barrackpore, West Bengal, under the West Bengal Act. The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

SVU Kolkata is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of West Bengal. Swami Vivekananda University, Kolkata courses are Diploma, B.Tech, B.Sc., B.Sc. Financial Support to the Students of NER for Higher Professional Courses (NEC Merit Scholarship)	Rs. 25,000 per annum	Candidates should be a permanent resident of North Eastern States. Should have minimum 60% aggregate marks in the previous examination and should be pursuing a regular undergraduate and postgraduate courses from a institute recognised by the government.
