College of Engineering, Muttathara (CEM), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala was established in 2016 and has fast emerged as a leading self-financed engineering colleges in Kerala. This is an affiliated college empowered by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for offering quality education in engineering stream. The campus of the CEM is small, at just five acres, but the school is able to accommodate 673 students and offer several B.Tech programmes. College has an organized team of 40 faculty members to teach and manage students and maintains a good student-teacher ratio. CEM has been recognised relatively fast as quality technical education institution in the region due to its commitment.
In order to support the learning process of its learners, College of Engineering, Muttathara avails a host of amenities. Though with CAPE a proposal is on the drawing board to have a girls’ hostel in the School, the college currently helps first and second year students to find accommodation in recognised private hostels. The central library of dimensions 420Sq Mtr is present on the first floor of the administrative block and contains vital collection of books and multimedia of engineering field. This information is available to the students in the form of online international journals and lectures from IITs and such other institutions. It also incorporates well endowed laboratories for each department to facilitate practical learning environments.
CEM currently has five B.Tech programmes all of which take 4 years for a student to complete when taken as full-time programmes. Some of these programmes are; Civil Engineering, Computer science and engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication engineering and Mechanical engineering. Every course has an approved admission capacity of sixty student, hence an overall student admission capacity of three hundred across all programme. In using this general objective the college aims at preparing students for professional jobs in their specialisations having equipped them with relevant engineering knowledge and skills.
The admission criteria of College of Engineering, Muttathara is namely the KEAM, a common entrance level examination conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala State for admission to professional courses. This test determines the academic abilities of the intending students, and anybody who desires to be a student is sorted out based on ranking on this examination. To widen the chances for prospective students, the college also considers the B.Arch scores.

According to the former students the college has some good reviews. The placement cell of the college is quite good. Students get to join internships programs as well. The highest salary package offered here was 5 LPA. About 95% of the students have done internships in many public sector
