Guskara Mahavidyalaya, Burdwan Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has 'Vivekananda Chhatrabas' (the boys' hostel) for SC/ST boys with 40 seat capacities respectively. Students who need hostel accommodation are required to apply separately for the same during or just after admission. Scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students are given the highest preference during the allotment of seats in the boys' hostel.

The college has 'Nivedita Chhatrinibas' (the girls' hostel) for girls students with 60 seat capacities respectively. Students who need hostel accommodation are required to apply separately for the same during or just after admission. If any seat(s) remain vacant, it is usually filled up out of the general caste student applicants giving appropriate weightage to merit and distance from residence to the college.

The college has established a health unit for the preliminary treatment and health check-ups of students and staff of the college. It was situated in close proximity to the Botany Department. Local famous physicians like Dr. K. S. Roy, Dr. S. K. Das, Dr. H. D. Mondal, and Dr. S. Ghosh generally attend the unit. Each doctor visits the unit once a week, preferably on Monday every week.

The College has a library that is well-equipped to cater to the needs of the students. It is a two-storied building having a floor area of 4500 sq. ft. (approx.). This library building has been constructed with the help of UGC grants under the Xth Plan period. The library has a total collection of more than 29000 titles. We have also a comparatively small library functioning in the morning shift of the college. The library subscribes to some journals. The process of computerization has recently been started. There is also a reading hall. Five science departments separately run seminar libraries. There is also the provision of a book-bank facility for needy and meritorious students. Students are also allowed to enjoy overnight issues of books. All students are required to return the books before the test examination. 

The College is famous for its high tradition of sports and games. Sports are conducted under the aegis of the Physical Education Department of the College. The department runs a three-year UGC-accredited degree course in Physical Education. The department admits 40 students every year. Students play and practice in the adjoining Football ground, Handball ground, Basketball court, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, throwing and jumping pits, track, and field meet, etc. Each year, a large number of students represent the college in the inter-college and inter-university meets come out with flying colors.

The College has a Computer Lab Facility. There is a well-designed modern central Computer Laboratory with internet connectivity.

The College canteen is available for both students and staff.

The College has an auditorium with open-air sitting arrangements for academic as well as cultural activities. Well-equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 250.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The College believes in the motto of 'Men Sana in corporate Sano' a healthy mind in a healthy body. Based on this principle a gymnasium is housed in the college premises. The gymnasium remains open four days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The working hours are 6.30 - 9.30 am and 1.30 - 5.30 pm. The gymnasium can accommodate 100 students per year, of which 70 seats are reserved for internal and 30 are reserved for external students. The students enjoy modern facilities like 16 stations Multigym which includes Bicycle Argometre, Treadmill, Jogger, Twister, and Dumbbells.

The College provides a computer facility with a BSNL Wi-Fi internet connection in the computer laboratory, Library, office, and all the departments. Faculty members, as well as the students, can access the internet in the computer laboratory, their departmental rooms, and in the library.

The College has made arrangements for the parking of the vehicles of the students and staff near the entrance

The College has Laboratory Facilities. There are ten laboratories for the science and commerce subjects, Accountancy, Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology. The laboratories are upgraded with advanced laboratory equipment.

The college has a guest house/waiting room facility for visiting faculty and student family members.

Students of this college regularly perform outstandingly in various cultural activities. Students' Union has a cultural committee and teachers are also involved in the activities of that committee. Almost every year the students of this college participate in various cultural competitions and get prizes or awards for their performances.
