48 MonthsBachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Marine Engineering is a four-year full-time undergraduate program offered by the Indian Maritime University, Chennai.
B.Tech.(Marine Engineering) is a residential 4-year undergraduate engineering program that focuses on the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ships and other marine vessels. This programme is designed in-line with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers. Students who successfully complete this course shall be able to successfully gain employment on-board Indian/ Foreign going Ships as a Marine Engineer.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects from a recognized board.
Minimum Marks:
- 60% aggregate marks in PCM
- 50% marks in English subject in 10+2 examination.
Relaxation:
For SC/ST candidates: There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
Relaxation of 5% in English marks will be applicable to candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to recognized Scheduled Tribes of the islands and who & both of whose parents were born in these islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.
Maximum age:
- For Male: General-25 years, OBC (NCL) - 28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
- For Female: General-27 years, OBC (NCL) - 30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
*The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session (01.08.2024).

College Infrastructure
1. Infrastructure is not that bad. College has good classrooms with white board, projector facility and free WiFi in whole campus along with hostel rooms. 2. Water and Electricity facility is also good 24×7. 3. Hostel rooms are ventilated with attached bathroom and kitchen, cleaned properly. 4. Library, large auditorium well air conditioned. 5. Gymnasium available for both girls and boys
