The Bharati Vidyapeeth (BVP) runs a group of institutions spread in different cities, and spanning a diverse range of academic areas. The first campus was begun in the city of Pune, in Maharashtra state. This was back in 1964, started by the renowned academician Shri Patangrao Kadam. Since then, the group has expanded to add more campuses in Pune itself, plus others in different parts of Maharashtra in the cities of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kolhapur, Sangli, Karad, Panchganj and in Satara. There is also a campus in New Delhi. And there is an international campus in Dubai, which is in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). The year 1996 saw the Bharati Vidyapeeth being recognized as a Deemed University by the UGC (University Grants Commission).
At present, the group trains students for courses on – Agriculture, Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Nursing, Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Environment Science, Catering Technology, Homeopathy and Hotel Management, besides a few more areas. This equals a total of seventy- eight schools and sixty institutes dealing with higher educations. A few of these are also into professional courses. Some schools at the K- 12 level are also operated by the group in Maharashtra.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering (BVDUCE) was founded in the year 1983 in Pune. It is a constituent unit of the Bharati Vidyapeeth and thus meets the approval of the UGC. It has been accredited by both the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in the latter. The technical courses in the institute are meanwhile, recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The total area of the campus spans 85 acres of land in Maharashtra.
Courses are available at the BVDUCE, for both the UG as well as PG levels. At the undergrad level, the B. Tech programmes are available for the engineering areas of- Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Production, Computer, Chemical, Information Technology, Computer Science & Business Systems, Electrical, and for Electronics & Telecommunication. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. Tech programmes are available for the areas of- Computer, Chemical, Information Technology, Nano Technology, Hydraulic Engineering, VLSI Design, Power Systems and in CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Manufacturing). Admissions to the undergrad programmes is via the CET (Common Entrance Test), while the ET (Entrance Test) is needed for the next level.
Research is another key component at the BVDUCE. To further this aim, there exists the Research and Development Cell. A doctoral programme is also handled by this cell, with the degrees arriving from the Visvesvaraya Technical University (VTU). Several peer- reviewed research publications have been made. Some of the key areas where these research items have been published in, includes- cauliflower waste utilization, sugarcane industry waste utilization, treatment of textile waste water, role of trace elements as cofactor, analysis of ground water quality, fisheries harbour design, solar tracking system, smart restaurant food menu system and a lot more.
Several patents have also been filed by the students and faculty members of the BVDUCE. Each department has contributed in its own way. There are academic departments in the college for all the ten areas of undergrad study. In addition, there is the Department of Basic Science and Humanities. This is to take care of the language courses, as well as the fundamental sciences such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The institute is also a key facilitator of a Ministry of HRD initiative with the World Bank. It is a programme titled TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme). An annual international conference takes place here, titled the Nanocon.
Several research projects and consulting assignments are also undertaken by the BVDUCE. These are often externally funded and procured. Some of the key bodies that have outsourced such assignments to the institute include – the DST (Department of Science and Technology), UGC, SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board), DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), AICTE, IEI (Institute of Engineers, India), DMSRDE (Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment), Mahati Electrics, Ballal Irrigation Systems and a few more.
There are several student clubs on campus, to make it a vibrant atmosphere. They look into both co- curricular as well as extra- curricular activities. Social visits are also organized here. The annual student event here is known as the Bharatiyam. All this and more has led to the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) ranking the BVDUCE at 83rd all India in the engineering category. The placements have like wise been good. Some of the key recruiters from campus, in recent seasons have been the likes of- Deloitte, Godrej, HCL, San Mar, TCS, Zensar, L&T Infotech, Fiserv, Mphasis, Polycab, IBM, ITC, Idea Cellular, SGS, JP Morgan, Virtusa, Syntel, Byju’s, Berger Paints, Trident, SK Energy, GE, Bosch, Lava, Axiom, Schneider Electric, NTT Data, Torrent, Capgemini, Atos, Mind Tree, Honda, TVS and many more.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
Based on the individual scores secured by colleges in cumulative score that they have received.
The colleges are ranked as per the cumulative score that they have received. The college that has got the maximum cumulative score will be ranked first while the college that has got least cumulative score will be ranked last.
Institutions that are promoted by the central/state or provincial Government or Government aided agencies.
Institutes that are promoted by private trusts/Socities/sector 8 companies that are not for profits.
Accreditation is a process by which the quality of all the programme is examined and certified normally by an external body of academics in a college. It validates and certifies the academic processes practised within an institute are robust and relevant.
Accreditation of this College:
In India, a degree can only be delivered by an approved institution and awarded by an institution authorised to do so by an act of parliament or legislature. Approval of institutions can be in the form of affiliation, autonomy, constituent or even approved institution status accorded by a university.
