Yes, there is a significant difference. When compared to a diploma, obtaining an MBA degree provides the individual with a little more value.

The MBA qualifies the individual for a master's degree, whereas the PGDM qualifies the individual for a diploma. But that has nothing to do with students' industrial success or the difference in knowledge imparted in institutes!

Firstly, MBA (Master of Business Administration) is a degree programme and offered by the colleges that are affiliated to a recognized University and these universities are controlled by the University Grants Commissions.

Whereas, PGPM (postgraduate programme in management) is a certificate programme that is generally provided by the colleges that are not affiliated with any University and the institution functions as an autonomous body. Many colleges provide a combination of both as PGPM + MBA (Autonomous Programme + UGC Degree).
