Location: It is situated right opposite "Hutatma Chowk" more popularly and originally known as "Fountain" you see a huge hoarding on an ancient British architectural structure which says "Siddharth College of Commerce" and you wonder "Is this where the college is?" Yes it's true, it's the same old building which appears to host some kind of Government administrative office which is home to Siddharth College of Commerce. well, accessibility is not a problem as it is just a 5 minute walk from Churchgate Station and about 12 minutes from CST. So that's one good thing about the college. Infrastructure: From the above description you must have a fair idea about how the college building looks. The insides don't help much, as it still doesn't feel like a college anyway. The state of the college is being worked on it is said, but we have our own doubts standing firm. The library is one place which is exceptional; it is massive, spacious and with so many books (which are outdated) around it DOES finally feel like college then. Fees: Nominal. Pretty affordable. but I would say spend a little more to give your CET once again and opt for a better college like GLC or KC. Faculty: The teaching is supposedly good enough for students who understand the Marathi language. The teachers sometimes do face certain communication problems while speaking in English during the lecture, but they are said to be fluent in Marathi which is the more preferred language here for the faculty and the students as well. Attendance: At this college, you don't need worry about your attendance. Just show your face once in a while to the faculty and it's all settled. Despite such relaxation in attendance, students are said to attend in one figure numbers. "Socho Kitna achha college hai humaara," says a student, to which we can do nothing but smile. Attendance lineancy is what takes a toll on the college, due to which the faculty is also half the times absent. Crowd: Siddharth College of Commerce was basically initiated for the empowerment of the backward classes and hence students belonging to these down-trodden classes are chosen over the General category. There's no specific quota system or anything, but in general about 12-15% of the students found here have joined through the open category, whereas the others belong to SC, ST or the like. So the crowd here is very depressing, as people literally cant speak English but sit for the law lectures which are taken in English. Also, there are no committees or any other initiatives taken by our seniors or colleagues in college. Canteen: There is NO canteen. There is used to be one, which was stopped due to a poor response. Talks are on to start a new one again. But trust me it will never come up! Hangouts: McD's and the food stalls selling sandwiches, chaat food, fruit juices and vada pavs are the favourites amongst students here, and are the most common hangout places, Also, a lot of cinemas are nearby, so when the faculty is not there to take the me..just go and take a break with you friends by buying yourself a movie ticket! Festivals: ZEAL is an inter-college festival celebrated sometimes in September. But it hardly matters and hardly does some good to the life of the students of the college. Placements: In a word "NONE" I a few words, this college is 'Superb'. The freedom here is unmatched. Just go for it. (I hope no one takes this seriously!!!!)
