Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women, Madurai has a Career and Guidance Cell that helps in conducting campus placement so that the students are provided with a plethora of job opportunities and secure a future. The Career and Guidance Cell sends an invitation to the companies for conducting campus placement and interested companies in return get back to the college for further process. After the acceptance by the company to conduct campus placement, dates are fixed with various recruiters for conducting the placement drive and the slots are allocated to different recruiters upon mutual agreement and the placement schedule is shared with the students of the institute. Thereafter, candidates interested in participating in the recruitment drive register with the Career and Guidance Cell of the college and submit all required documents along with their resumes. The companies deliver a pre-placement talk on the fixed date for the students in order to make them aware of the basic policies, work environment and give an insight into the company and also take up their queries. Students get a chance to interact with the recruiters directly. After the pre-placement talk, resumes of the registered candidates are shortlisted according to the eligibility criteria or academic demand as mentioned by the recruiting companies. Tests are taken such as aptitude test, technical test, etc and students qualifying the test makes a move to the next stage of the recruitment drive that is GD. After qualifying the written round, recruiters give a topic to the selected students in a group for the Group Discussion in order to judge the communication and speaking skills of students and their performance in a group. Further, the candidates have to qualify the interview taken by the companies so that the recruiters can judge the overall personality of the candidates and ensure that candidate is suitable for the job and candidates qualifying the interview are successful in the recruitment drive. After the candidates have qualified the personal interview, they are hence selected and are offered jobs by the recruiting company.
