Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering is a four-year (8 Semesters) full-time undergraduate program offered at National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal.

B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is one of the most popular programmes at N.I.T.K Surathkal. The programme was started in 1986 and has been designed to cater to global demands and offers balanced coverage of hardware and software systems. The programme includes elective courses covering thrust areas such as Distributed Systems & Computing, Parallel Architectures & High-performance computing, High-Speed Networks, Designing with Network Processors, Security and Embedded Systems Cloud Computing etc. The B.Tech. the programme enjoys an enviable placement of almost 100% year after year. About 25 to 35% of the students pursue higher studies after their graduation, mostly in U.S with scholarship and even without fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the chemistry/ Biotechnology /Biology /Technical Vocational subject.

Admission Details

Admission to all courses will be made in the odd semester of each session at the first year level based on the relative performance in the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE-Main) and qualifying examination as per the guidelines issued by the MHRD, New Delhi from time to time.

College Infrastructure

Hostels:- For Btech first and second year students, the hostels are very very old but they are good enough. They all have common bathrooms but they are well ventilated. For, third and final year students, we have Mega Towers which are very nice. In Mega Towers, we have separate rooms for each person and a common bathroom shared by about 10-12 people. Classrooms:- There are 3 Lecture Halls name LHC - A, B and C. LHC C is the best among all of them and LHC A is the worst.
