Hi,both the universities  are good . Placements of SRM ISTfor cse branch  are one of the best as every year there are 100 % placements, Students get a chance to sit for placements in dream companies like Amazon, Microsoft and many more providing with dream packages. coming to VIT Vellore is pretty good for cse . The placements at VIT Vellore for the cse are good and above average .

You can choose either of them , Because both has their value .

Electronics and computer engineering branch is INR 1,55,000

EEE - 1,55,000

Computer Science Engineering -2,22000

Biomedical engineering 1,55,000

In the recent years SRM has trensformed more into a brand than an  instituition however it provides good placemnt opportunities specially for cse students with around 65% to 80% students getting placed (in Delhi Campus) with highest package around 6 lakh and lowest around 1.8 lakh. Overall the institute is nice with great infrastructure and teaching faculty . If you are paying more than 8 lakh for the total course then the outcome does not appear to be too pleasing in terms of placement(however the  faculty is  good and you will get the knowledge you are paying for).

As you have mentioned that you have secured 2782 rank which is quite very good rank. Considering the previous year cutoffs, with this rank you can easily get CSE in any of the SRM campuses. As the previous year cutoff for CSE was upto 20000 rank. You can can sit in the next round of counsellings and can change your branch.

If you got CSE in SRM Kattankulathur campus then its the best things that you have achieved in SRM. Because the lowest cutoff is only for Kattankulathur campus and also that of CSE branch. Now if you want to join other college then you might have to write a mail or application to the college regarding the fee back payment. The authorities will however deduct some amount as 15-20% of fee . They will not return the whole amount. But if you don't get anywhere else then don't worry you are still at the right place.

As you have mentioned that you have secured 29997 rank in SRM, 2020. Considering the previous year cutoffs, yes there are chances that you might get a seat for mechanical engineering in btech course. However cutoffs change every year depending on various factors such as no of candidates appearing. So in this case it may or may not be possible. Further if not Kattankulathur then in any other campuses you can easily get.
