Asutosh College was established in 1916 by Sir. Asutosh Mukherjee in Kolkata. The College is affiliated under the University of Calcutta. The College was previously known as South Suburban College and was started at a rented premise. The college was later renamed as Asutosh College when Sir Asutosh Mukherjee passed away in 1924. The college was shifted to its permanent college building in 1935 which has an area of forty thousand square feet and more than fifty classrooms. Several undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes are offered by the college.
Asutosh College is located in Hazra, Kolkata. The nearest Metro Station to the institute is Jatin Das Metro Station. Students can get down at Jatin Das Metro Station and reach the campus by covering a walking distance. Several buses or taxis are also available from Howrah/Sealdah Station and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport to reach the institute campus.

Asutosh College, Kolkata Admission Procedure:-
Asutosh College offers admissions to various undergraduate and diploma programmes based on the merit of the qualifying exam. The College also offers admissions to BBA programmes based on the merit of the qualifying exam and in addition to that, students also have to clear group discussion and personal interview conducted by the authorities of the Institute. Admissions to various postgraduate programmes are also offered where 60% admissions are offered directly based on the merit list of Calcutta University and 40% admissions are offered based on the performance of students in the written test conducted by the authorities. For Admission to undergraduate/diploma programmes-
Students seeking admission to UG/diploma courses need to apply online on the official website of Asutosh college along with all the required documents and payment of fees.
Candidates will get admission to these UG/diploma courses based on the merit of the qualifying exam.
Students will get admission after the successful verification of documents at the college and payment of fees.
Students seeking admission to BBA programmes also need to clear GD & PI conducted by the University.
For Admission to postgraduate programmes-
Students need to apply online on the official website of Asutosh College along with all the required documents and payment of fees.
Candidates are offered admission to PG programmes where 60% seats are filled up from the merit list of Calcutta University through direct admission.
The remaining 40% seats are filled up by students based on the results in the entrance tests conducted by the respective departments.
Candidates will have to appear and qualify the entrance test conducted by the respective departments of the institute.
Eligible candidates who will achieve the qualifying marks, have to fill the admission form on the official website of Asutosh College.
Candidates will get admission to PG programmes based on the qualifying marks in written test, document verification and payment of fees.
There are several facilities and amenities such as hostels, transportation, health centre, library, laboratory, health centre, canteen, sychotherapy unit, store, photocopy centre, banking etc. which are provided for students and faculty members of the campus. Students and staff are allowed to use all the facilities under the rules and regulations of the authority which are mentioned below.
Hostel- Asotosh College provides separate hostels for girls and boys located inside the campus. Hostels are allotted to students based on the availability of seats and payment of fees. Other facilities like separate common rooms for boys and girls, gymnasium, cheap store for students and teachers, photocopying facilities, elevator, purified drinking water, generators, etc are also provided inside the campus.
Library- The central library of Asutosh College, Kolkata is fully automated along which is well equipped with a huge collection of books, academic journals including national and international. The library has also access to the INFLIBNET facility which helps in easy approach to topics.
Laboratory- The institute campus has several laboratories provided with equipment in the science departments, and computer and internet facilities in all departments.
Transportation- All students and staff are provided with to and fro transportation for easy convenience by Asutosh College.
Health Centre- Doctors and other qualified members are available to provide medical treatment to students and staff in case of any medical emergency. Students and staff are taken to nearby SSKM Hospital to seek any kind of medical treatment.
Canteen- A canteen with all snacks and other basic food items at affordable rates are provided inside the campus of Asutosh College, Kolkata.
Psychotherapy unit- The Psychotherapy unit of Asutosh College has members who are trained and provides counselling to students regarding their personal issues and academics. see the college you have mentioned istop ranked colleges in terms of quality education, however if fees is your main concern then you should go for ashutosh college, it has really good location and fees are comparatively less than other colleges, however ranchi university is good if you want to do job after completing studies, through there is no 100% placement but students get to work in internships which is provided by the university.
