36 MonthsBachelor of Arts (BA) in General is a three-year full-time undergraduate Course offered by Asutosh College, Kolkata and affiliated to University of Calcutta, Kolkata.
Special Instruction for B.A. (General)
Choose three subjects out of the given combinations in the groups mentioned below:
- One to be treated as GE (Generic Elective)
- Two others to be treated as CC (Core Course)
For each of the core, subjects student has to study four papers, one each in the 1st four semesters.
For the GE subject chosen student is to study one paper each in Semester –I and II.
In Semester –III and V, the student is to study one paper each of English (LCC1) and in Semester –IV and VI students is to study one paper each of Bengali/ Hindi/ Alternative English.
One subject from each of the 3 groups :
Group 1: History /Philosophy
Group 2: Sociology /Elective Bengali /Elective English /Sanskrit
Group 3: Political Science /Economics
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with Aggregate
- 50% in aggregate and 45% in the subject applied for or related subjects
- 55% in the subject applied for or related subjects
- 50% in aggregate (if the candidate has not studied the subject)
For Reserved Category Candidates-
- 40% in aggregate
- 40% in the subject applied for or related subjects

The college have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment which are used and well maintained. The classrooms are equipped with halls, air conditionings and audio visual rooms. The living space is clean although the food hygiene could use some improvements.

Yes asutosh College have all the necessary equipments that we need , have all the basic necessary facilities and a great infrastructure. We have seminar hall , library, computer lab, WiFi facilities, sports ground. Living area is clean.
