Established in 1916 under the leadership of renowned mathematician Sir Asutosh Mukherjee, Asutosh College was earlier known as South Suburban College. After Sir Asutosh's death in 1924, the college was renamed after him. Asutosh College Kolkata is affiliated to University of Calcutta. With a CPGA of 3.22, NAAC has accredited the institute with an ‘A’ grade. The campus covers an area of 12 acres. There are 28 departments at the college offering diploma, undergraduate (B.A., B.Sc.) and postgraduate (M.A., M.Sc.) courses.

Asutosh College admissions are done via merit basis and entrance exam basis. For admission in UG courses, the college releases a merit list based on the marks obtained by candidates in the 12th standard. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the best of four rules. Both merit based (60% seats) and entrance exam based (40% seats) admissions are done in the PG programmes. For entrance exam based admission candidates scores in entrance exam conducted by the Calcutta University are taken into consideration. The campus of the college has a placement cell for the placements of the students. Asutosh College has modern facilities and infrastructure like a library, hostels, auditorium etc. for its students and staff.

The nearest metro station to the institute is Jatin Das Park Metro Station. It is just 180 meters from the Asutosh College. With a distance of 3.2 km, Lake Bus Depot is the closest bus depot to the college.

Asutosh College Clubs and Societies

Eco Club - This club educates and aware people about the environment. It conducts various events to spread awareness regarding the environment. The club also tells people how to save the environment and avoid damaging it. 

Asutosh College Facilities and Infrastructure

The college has a well-established library for students and staff members. The library has an ample number of books, subscriptions to various national and international journals, reference books etc. Students can easily find course-related study material in the library. Apart from the library, Asutosh College facilities include separate hostels for boys and girls students, a well equipped gym, spacious canteen etc. The hostels are located within the campus premises. The college has separate laboratories for each department. The labs help students in gaining practical knowledge. Asutosh College Courses

The courses of the college are offered at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As per their interest and choice, students can choose among the 41 courses provided by the institute. For admission in Asutosh College UG courses, candidates need 10+2 from a recognised board. On the other hand for Asutosh College Kolkata PG courses, a bachelor degree from a recognised university is required.

Asutosh College Kolkata Admissions

Only candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can take admission in the college. The institute offers admission to its diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Asutosh College admission to UG courses is done based on the merit of the last qualifying examination. Students wishing to take admission in PG courses need to sit for the entrance exam conducted by the University of Calcutta and can also take admission on the basis of bachelor degree marks. The institute offers admission to 60% seats in PG programmes on merit basis and admission to 40% seats is done based on entrance exam score. Asutosh College admission form can be filled via online mode.

Asutosh College Kolkata Placements

Every year various companies participate in the placement drives conducted by the placement cell at the college. The placement cell ensures students are provided with adequate numbers of job opportunities. To provide maximum job opportunities to the students, Asutosh College placement cell builds relations with corporates and invites them to participate in the placement drives. TCS, CTS, Genpact etc. are some of the companies which regularly participate in Asutosh College placements drives. To train students seminars and workshops are also organised by the placement cell.
