The Future Institute of Engineering and Management (FIEM) is located in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. It was established in the year 2004. The campus covers a total area worth eight acres of land. The FIET is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). This affiliation, ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission). The technical courses here, have also been ratified by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
Courses are available at the Future Institute of Engineering and Management at both the UG and PG levels. At the undergrad level, B. Tech programmes are available with six main specializations. These are in the engineering areas of – Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation and in Electronics & Communication. In addition, the BBA and BCA programmes may also be taken up at this level. Offered at the master’s level are, the MCA and the MBA. The entire academics here is run by the respective departments, for each of the subjects mentioned.
Several more courses are offered by the other institutes part of the group known as Team Future. This group runs programmes in business management, media management and hospital management. It even runs a Future Campus School (FCS). The FIEM has also tied up with some other educational institutions to help out in research collaboration and to facilitate exchange programmes. One such tie up is with the US North Dakota University. Another is with the Jadavpur University, in Kolkata itself. MOUs have also been inked with industry partners via the Campus Connect programme. Some leading corporates such as CTS, TCS, Capgemini, Wipro and Infosys are enlisted are partners to this scheme.
A number of co- curricular and extra- curricular activities are also organized on campus. The annual techno- management fest here is known as the Phoenix. Student activities are coordinated by the respective clubs for the said purpose. There is Explorica, which organizes tech- based events on topics like robotics. It also does quizzes and debates on related topics. The cultural club here, is known as the Culrav. The Kolkata- based Future Institute of Engineering and Management even publishes its own periodic e- magazine titled the Explorer. It chronicles the various activities held on campus.
The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Banking facilities with ATM and access to public transport, may be availed just outside the campus premises. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. A convenience store is also located within campus. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
The placements have likewise been ramped up in recent years. Some of the leading companies have visited the campus, for recruitment of students. A few of the leading names to appear on campus over the recent seasons, include the likes of- Cipla, Capgemini, ABP, ACC, Axis Bank, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Century Ply, BFC Forex, Ambuja Realty, BOC, Acclaris, Nestle, Eureka Forbes, Dendrite Adhesive, IBM, Essae Teraoka, OCL India, Phillips, SKS Microfinance, Club Mahindra Holidays, Uni Charm, Bajaj Capital and Balmer Lawrie besides a few more. The Training and Placement Cell takes care of all this.
