AFFORDABLE TRADITIONAL COLLEGE WITH FLEXIBLE
Vishesh Saini Posted on 16 Jun'26
B.Com - Batch of 2027-01-01
Academics
Pursuing a B.Com Honours degree at this institution exposes a student to a highly relaxed academic framework. The curriculum strictly follows the updated guidelines of Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) under the National Education Policy (NEP). However, the teaching execution is highly inconsistent. Being a government-aided setup, several faculty members remain passive or inactive during scheduled class hours, which frequently disrupts the continuous learning flow. The teaching style is entirely traditional and exam-oriented, relying heavily on self-study and reference textbooks. The major advantage here is the absolute flexibility regarding daily attendance; there are no rigid daily restrictions, and the lack of a strict administrative schedule allows students to manage their time independently.
College Infra
Meerut College, being a historic, state-funded institution, features a sprawling 100-acre campus with an expansive layout. The physical infrastructure includes massive, traditional classrooms and multiple large athletic grounds equipped for various sports. While basic facilities like computational and science laboratories are present, their utility and structural updates are quite vintage. A significant drawback is that the available resources, modern tools, and upgraded seating spaces are not equally distributed or accessible across all undergraduate student batches. On a positive note, the central library offers a quiet, extensive space for self-study, and essential amenities such as the canteen and basic water supply lines are adequately maintained to keep the daily routine running.
Campus Life
The campus environment reflects a vibrant yet deeply un-tempered student culture. Due to the massive campus area, cultural activities, inter-collegiate sports meets, and student elections run with high local engagement. Geographically, the campus is safely located directly on the main highway, which guarantees continuous security presence, police patrolling near the perimeter, and immediate access to medical emergency facilities. While the institution officially enforces strict anti-ragging protocols, internal student friction and verbal altercations occasionally break out within the campus boundaries. The college management addresses these behavioral issues by imposing strict disciplinary penalties, including temporary suspensions or barring the involved students from entering the campus premises outside of official university examinations.
Placements
From a career readiness perspective, the on-campus placement opportunities for undergraduate commerce students are exceptionally low, almost negligible. The college houses a general placement cell, but core placement drives are heavily skewed toward post-graduate courses like MBA or MCA, which have occasionally recorded packages up to 25 LPA. For a B.Com Honours graduate, direct corporate hiring is practically non-existent on campus. The institution focuses primarily on delivering a theoretical degree and maintaining a basic CGPA foundation, rather than preparing students with advanced commercial skills, data analytics tools, or industry-ready exposure. Any student looking for corporate career options must aggressively hunt for off-campus opportunities independently.
Value For Money
The absolute highlight of Meerut College is its unmatched affordability. The total annual tuition fee for the B.Com program is exceptionally low, ranging between ₹1,721 and ₹1,853 per year for standard batches. When balanced against the robust government scholarship reimbursements available for eligible students, the net educational expenditure drops to a bare minimum. Therefore, for students pursuing small-scale, traditional, or competitive exam-oriented courses, this college offers excellent value for money because your finances are not wasted. However, if your goal is an advanced, high-tech, or practical application-heavy professional course, the lack of corporate infrastructure makes the degree feel less financially rewarding in terms of professional return on investment.

B.Com - Batch of 2010-01-01
Academics
Academics of the institution are one of the most talked about ones in the region with the University toppers coming every year from almost all the departments. The faculties are highly qualified individuals with great knowledge
College Infra
Ordinary but we'll built infrastructure. Classrooms are airy, library is well stocked, laboratories are well maintained. The greenery adds to the beauty of infrastructure. Better work could be done in strengthening the buildings.
Campus Life
Campus life is just as average as it can get. Every now and then news of ruckus in the campus keeps floating. Although now the security measures have been tightened by the authorities and campus feels a little safer.
Placements
Not very high scale placement drives are arranged in the campus itself. The placement cell however provides platform to students to know about the opportunities they can avail. Better work can be done in this regard.
Value For Money
Almost all the aided courses have nominal fees. The quality of education provided is the best one could get in the charged fees. The self financed courses are also not very expensive and let students avail greater opportunities in lesser money

B.Com - Batch of 2023-01-01
Academics
Teaching mainly relies on a traditional classroom approach, with very few practical commerce-related examples. Although classes are conducted regularly, student participation is limited, and modern teaching techniques are seldom applied.
College Infra
The Infrastructure for the B.Com program at Meerut College is simple and slightly outdated. Classrooms are adequate for routine lectures, but many are missing modern instructional tools, which reduces the scope for interactive learning.
Placements
The B.Com placement system at Meerut College provides very little campus exposure. Few companies take part, and placement drives do not happen often. Although the college shares some job-related information, proper career planning and placement training are missing.
