Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Chemistry is a three-year full-time undergraduate Course offered by NGM College, Coimbatore and affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

The department of chemistry was established in the year 1957 and undergraduate B.Sc. Chemistry programme was introduced in the year 1965 with the great efforts of Prof.M. Alkondan. From then on, the department has been steadily marching forward and now it offers research programmes like M.Phil. and Ph.D. both full time and part time to the students. The department has been actively involved in various research activities. The department laboratory is well furnished and equipped with instruments necessary for the students to carry out their experiments. The research laboratory has been equipped with modern analytical instruments and a well established environmental laboratory. Most of the faculties are highly qualified and are actively involved in both academic and research activities. The students are encouraged to take internships/training in reputed industries and national laboratories. The department also offers extension activities for the students in water quality assessment and monitoring the ground water quality in and around Pollachi.

Eligibility Criteria

A pass in the Higher Secondary examination with the following subjects. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the Bharathiar University.

Admission Details

Admission will be made strictly on the basis of merit as per rules stipulated by the Government and as per the rules of eligibility prescribed for the various Programmes by the Bharathiar University.
