College Infrastructure
There are no "stand out" infrastructures, everything is "just working". Starting with classrooms, they are decent at best, will give you the feeling of a school if we talk about where the max classes are held for 2nd years. Otherwise a a decent number of good classrooms exist such as the ground floor(x8) and new lecture hall complex(x2), they recently installed centralised AC, but there are a no security cameras(last checked), the space is decently comfortable at best. The second floor classrooms are just bad, and anyone giving exams there in the heat of March is just a gone case. Laboratories have equipments just working, but not really appropriate, not even decent, will say it's "just working", they don't resupply the labs with new items every year so you gotta use what's available and it's bad for many laboratories. This is for ECE only. The hostels are just bad except 1st and final year which are decent at best, the mess meals are not good in certain hostels but good at a few. For sports decent facilities are there, ground, courts for badminton tennis and basketball.

Not good. The course doesn't really seem fit for the level of employment. And academics here has incompetence and unfair ess written all over it. Can name only 2-3 good profs i have seen here in all the 2 years I spent studying, laboratories combined. They don't follow the curriculum points themselves at times for certain courses. A few courses handled by experienced professors are good and uniform, and exams are designed via their notes, but even then learning in those courses will be minimum. This review is for ECE for a larger part.

The only good point of the college for which people come here also are the placements. They are good, until now, for the circuital branches it is decent, and for CSE it is excellent, but below that it is certainly not that well but opportunities are there.

It is alright. Not too good, not too bad. Depends on what one expects. The fests are okay, but only the main ones, culrav-avishkar, tho thy are falling down a bit. The peers make it somewhat good, the seniors are good and encouraging, we have SMP here which guide the way. Some professors are good and provide support as well. The staffs, not so much. But nobody gotta interact very much with the staff either so that's alright.

The college is not well equipped with infrastructure and facilities. It lack the basic requirement of enough classrooms for students. Most of the classes only have fans (max three) some classes have AC but they are not in their best working condition. Living and walking space is still good but the washroom hygiene is comparatively poor.

The academics is good, the classes are conducted regularly and timely but the response, approach, teaching methods of few professors is not good. I'm studying B.com(prog) and the content of some teachers are good but some are way too lenient or way to strict.

Very poor placement rate. The quality of placement is not that good and efficient. There's a substantially less percentage of students placed from each department. The salary package is Ok in terms of a only graduate student. The college was supportive of the assignment much placement available but the process was quiet tedious.

KIT has a decent setup, but it really depends on which part of the campus you’re looking at. On the positive side, the academic buildings and the library are actually pretty good. The central library is huge and has almost all the books you’ll need for your semesters, which saves a lot of money. Also, the computer labs are well-maintained, fully air-conditioned, and the systems actually work fine during practical exams or coding sessions. The location right on the highway is also a big plus for daily commuters since catching a bus or auto is easy. However, the non-academic infrastructure is where it drops stars. The Wi-Fi is basically useless—it barely connects in the classrooms, so you end up relying on your own mobile data most of the time. The canteen is okay if you just want a quick samosa or tea, but the food options get boring very quickly and the seating area gets super crowded during breaks. Also, the washrooms on the upper floors could definitely be maintained better; the hygiene is a hit-or-miss depending on the day. Ground maintenance for sports is also just average. Overall, it's a functional campus that gives you the basic tools to finish your degree, but don't expect a high-end or luxurious college environment. It's strictly average.

The only real downside—and the reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5—is how rigid the academic system can feel. The college is incredibly strict about the 75% attendance rule, and they will absolutely call your parents or hold back your admit card if you fall short. Between the daily assignments, internal sessionals, and back-to-back lectures, the schedule leaves you with very little free time for self-study or working on independent side projects. Overall, if you want an institution that keeps you disciplined and ensures you are thoroughly prepared for university exams and placements, the academic environment here is highly dependable.

If you are joining this college solely for high-end placements, you need to lower your expectations. The reality of the placement drive here is quite disappointing compared to what is advertised during admissions. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that the training and placement cell does make an effort to conduct basic aptitude classes and mock interviews. A few service-based mass recruiters do visit the campus every year, so if you just want any job to start with, you might land a package around 3 to 4 LPA. They also push for a lot of free online virtual internships to show on paper, which can give you some basic certificate exposure. However, the major issue is the quality of companies and the roles being offered. Major product-based companies or top-tier tech giants rarely visit. Many of the companies that come are small startups or consultancies offering technical support, sales, or BPO roles rather than core engineering or development profiles. To make matters worse, the placement cell focuses heavily on getting students placed in these low-paying sales jobs just to increase their placement percentage numbers. If you genuinely want a good core technical role or a decent package, you are essentially on your own and have to apply for off-campus drives.

If you are expecting a vibrant, happening campus life like you see at bigger universities, you need to seriously lower your expectations. To be fair, the physical campus itself is fine. It’s green, fairly clean, and located right on the highway, so commuting is easy. But the actual "college life" is basically non-existent. It honestly feels like an extension of school. You are stuck in classes or labs from 9 AM to 5 PM with a packed, exhausting schedule. The management is overly obsessed with discipline. They treat the 75% attendance rule like it’s the only thing that matters in the world—if you drop even slightly below it, get ready to pay heavy fines or have your parents called. There is no real freedom to just sit and work on your own projects or relax. The security guards are always on your case about uniforms, ID cards, and where you are sitting during free periods. Also, don't expect much in terms of cultural fests or events. The few events they do organize feel very low-budget and forced, and there aren't any great hangout spots inside other than a small canteen that gets unbearably crowded during the short lunch break. If you just want to attend lectures, give exams, and go straight home, it works. But if you actually want to experience a fun, independent college life and grow socially, the campus environment here is incredibly suffocating.

Looking at Kanpur Institute of Technology as a whole, it is a textbook definition of a middle-of-the-road private engineering college. It has some genuine strengths, but they are heavily balanced out by some frustrating downsides.
