Candidates for the BA Honours programmes offered in Bengali, History, Political Science, English, Philosophy, Education, and Sanskrit are chosen based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. Each honours programme has a fixed number of seats:
The BA General programme has 363 seats. The BA General is for those who wish to study the maximum number of subjects without specialising in any one particular subject.
For all BA programmes, candidates have to complète their 10+2 with the required subjects as per the norms of the University of Calcutta. Admissions are generally based on the percentage obtained in the 10+2 examination with preference being given to those students who had studied the relevant subjects in the 10+2 examination.
