Selection for all programs at the BFA level shall be effected through practical and written examinations. This is the first stage where applicants get to demonstrate their artistic skill, creativity, and knowledge of fundamentals in art. Application Process
The application process for The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata, is below:
1. Online Application: Candidates will fill in the online application form. The form must be filled in with precise details, and parental/guardian signature is required.
2. Document Submission: Scanned copy of the valid self-attested documents along with online application will be uploaded. All submitted documents will have to be produced in physical form to the office once called for the interview.
3. Practical and Written Examination: The first step of selection in all the BFA courses comprises practical and written examination. All candidates will have to bring their own materials at the admission test.
4. Viva-Voce Test: After the practical and written examination short-listed candidates will be called for viva-voce. This is the penultimate selection for admission to the BFA courses.
5. Document Verification: Copies of educational certificates have to be attached with each application. Original certificates must be produced at the time of admission for verification.
Degree wise Admission Process
BFA Graphic Art Hons: The program covers aspects of graphic design and visual communication. The admission process includes a practical examination that tests the drawing and design skills of candidates and is followed up by a written examination and a viva-voce.
BFA Sculpture Hons: This BFA program most suitable for aspirants in sculpture imparts complete training in three-dimensional art forms. The mode of selection consists of a practical test evaluating candidate performance using a variety of materials and is accompanied by a written examination and a final viva-voce.
BFA Applied Art Hons: This program consists of students who want to learn commercial art and advertising. The selection process consists of a practical test on design and illustration skills, a written examination, and a viva-voce as the final round.
BFA Painting Hons: This is a specialized program for aspiring painters. This process qualifies aspirants through practical tests of their ability in painting, a written test, and a final viva-voce.
Each of these BFA programs takes four years to complete, offering a unique blend of theory and practice in the fields of art they represent.
