Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology (VJCET) is situated in Vazhakulam, Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam, Kerala, and was founded in the year 2001. VJCE extends across an extensive 25.28-acre campus. This college is affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram, and approved by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Altogether, VJCET has a general student enrolment of 2,012 and 147 faculties; it has four degree programmes and 14 courses. Due to its technical base, the institution is most popular for offering technical education, especially in the field of engineering.

The college is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), Kerala, and approved by AICTE. VJCET is accredited by NBA and NAAC with an 'A' grade. VJCET has several amenities meant to improve the learning outcomes of students on offer. The college library is spread over an area of 16400 sq ft on two floors, primarily for books, different national & international journals, and technical magazines. It uses current systems such as barcode circulation systems and web-based online public access catalogue systems. The campus is junct-free with the provision of two internet leased lines, each with a capacity of 154 Mbps, to support academic activities. As for sports activities, VJCET has a multi-gym containing all sorts of equipment, including those for students’ exercise and those for teachers’ exercise. It also seeks to establish and promote the health of students through a health centre that harbours first aid facilities.

It has a vast scope of programmes available, which mainly concentrate on the area of specialising in engineering. 14 courses offered by VJCET are B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, B.Tech Textile Technology, MBA, and M.Tech constructions like Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI, and Embedded Systems. The offered B.Tech programmes include Computing Systems and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Information Technology. The college also has new-age specialisation areas such as B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Design, and CBSE. Regarding postgraduate courses, VJCET offers M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, VLSI & Embedded Systems and Industrial Engineering & Management. The MBA programme is designed to meet the needs of the market for management professionals. The department has an approved student capacity of 2,012 for all the courses offered in the university, thus adequately resourced academically.

The admission process was competence-based and therefore followed the guidelines from the Commissioner of Entrance Exams, Government of Kerala. For B.Tech programmes, candidates must have passed the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM). MBA programmes accept scores from CAT/CMAT/KMAT or group discussions and interviews as part of the admission process. Admissions to the M.Tech courses are given based on the GATE scores, though some institutions have relaxed the rules a little, keeping with the trend of the times. Some of the entrance exams that are considered by VJCET are GATE for the engineering postgraduate programmes, CAT/CMAT, and KMAT for management programmes.
