Please read this answer in Browser mode and not in the App Mode.

There is no specific eligibility criteria per se. You need to score more than 95 percentile in CAT. And based on your grades in your 10th, 12th and Graduation and the streams you have chosen, you will be rated on a scale. And the points are calculated accordingly. For example, if you sore 60% in your 10th, you will be awarded 5 points. If you score 80%, you will be awarded more points. It is the same with even 12th and Graduation. The total marks are calculated and based on your Category, you will have a cut off to clear and Candidates are shortlisted based on that. Please read this for a better understanding of the admission criteria in IIM A.

IIM A has the following percentiles as the minimum cut offs for 2019 across all Categories.

UR: 100

NC-OBC, Trans: 57

SC: 32

ST: 16

PWD: 6

And after being shortlisted based on these criteria, Candidates have to be shortlisted also for WAT and PI rounds. The whole process can be checked at their page: https://www.iima.ac.in/web/pgp/apply/domestic/admission/selection-process

There is a rating system based on your scores for IIMs. You are rated based on your scores in 10th and 12th and then shortlisted. For example, if you look at 10th percentage vs marks,

Hello

Admission in IIM is depend on your cat score . So you have to score good marks in cat. As per the eligibility criteria for cat you must have minimum 50% aggregate marks in your graduation. There is no such condition on your 10th and 12th standard marks .

Hope my answer will help you

.

Thank you

Hello Aspirant,

Firstly congrats on an awesome CAT percentile. With this percentile you can expect calls from IIMs but for the top ones your high school matters too. As far as the eligibility criteria is concerned , you are fine as the minimum percentage needed in 10th and 12th is 50+, but chances may be less that you get a call from IIM Ahemdabad. You see, even though higher weightage is given to CAT percentile , IIMs always goes with high merit candidates , so people who have score 85-90% and above in class 10th and 12th seems to have higher chance of receiving interview call. IIMs usually put separate ratings out of 10 (points) for 10th score,12th score ,graduation score as well as years of work experience. You may checkout the rating chart in their official website to get a clear idea. Now even if you get selected it is only for the interview round and IIM interview rounds are pretty crucial at deciding your admission and it is not that easy,  , so be well prepared in advanced .

The below link can be useful: https://bschool.careers360.com/articles/iim-ahmedabad-admission-criteria#:~:text=The%20admission%20criteria%20of%20IIM,eligibility%20criteria%20for%20the%20program.

https://www.careers360.com/university/indian-institute-of-management-ahmedabad

All the best

Firstly you need to appear for CAT. You need to have minimum 80 percentile in each section and above 90 percentile in CAT to be eligible for getting a call. For a clarification cutoff goes up to 99.8 in CAT for admission in IIM Ahmedabad and there are very less chance for a general candidate getting admission at 90 percentile too.

If your score in 10th and 12th is above 90 percentage and in graduation it's above 80% then you can get an opportunity of getting a IIM call at as low as 90-95 percentile. The cutoff and criteria depends and vary every year.

Hey!

IIMS and IITs do not take admission on the basis of merit, candidates need to give entrance exams to get admission in such top institutions for masters or PhD. You either need to attempt GATE or CAT to take admission in IITs or IIMs repectively . To know more, visit here:

Please view this answer in browser mode as our app is not tables friendly yet. You haven't mentioned your Category and your Academic profile like your percentages or Grades in your 10th, 12th and Graduation. So this answer will be written in general perspective. ABM is offered in only 2 IIMs namely IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Lucknow. Now IIM A has the following percentiles as the minimum cut offs for 2019 across all Categories.

UR: 100

NC-OBC, Trans: 57

SC: 32

ST: 16

PWD: 6

And after being shortlisted based on these criteria, Candidates have to be shortlisted also for WAT and PI rounds. The whole process can be checked at their page: https://www.iima.ac.in/web/pgp/apply/domestic/admission/selection-process In short you might need more than 95 percentile for IIM A.

hello aspirant ...

The overall lowest cut-off for top IIMs:

You will get a call from IIM if you touch 90 percentile or above (except for IIM A which has a lower cut-off) The overall cutoffs are as follows:

Sr. No. IIMs Minimum overall cut-off
1 IIM Ahmedabad 80 percentile
2 IIM Bangalore 90.6 percentile
3 IIM Calcutta 90 percentile
4 IIM Lucknow 90 percentile
5 IIM Indore 90.5 percentile
6 IIM Kozhikode 90 percentile

Most of the new IIMs have their cut-off requirement set at 85 with IIM Shillong having cut-off set at 70 in CAT.

What really matters is the sectional cut-offs for all three sections. You need to have the minimum cut-off requirement for each section, which differs from IIM to IIM. If you get less than that for anyone of the sections, you will lose that call. For IIM A, this sectional cut-off is the lowest,  you need a sectional cut-off of just 70 percentile or above to get a call from them.

If you have a good profile, you have a higher chance of getting a call at a lower percentile, too. Profile in this sense would mean a high percentage / CGPA in your Graduation 10th, 12th and Under. Usually those who have 90 percent and above for all three will be considered for IIM ‘s call (IIM A for sure!) Apart from that if you are an exceptional performer in any extra-curricular activity with awards and recognition, you have a chance of getting a call from IIM.

One surprising fact is the actual cut-off date of IIMs goes on to show that for many IIMs, the actual CAT cut-off is much higher than what institutes announce prior to shortlisting for the further process of the institutes. Except a few of them, the actual interview cut-off of the majority of IIMs falls in the range of 96 to 100 percentile in CAT while the announced cut-off being in the range of 80 to 90 percentile.

hope it helps !
