After shortlisting the Candidates, the selected Candidates will have to go through WAT and PI rounds. Selection at this stage will strictly be based on the shortlisting of the candidates done separately for each Category ) on the basis of their Final Composite Score. . The numbers selected in different reservation categories will be in proportions mandated by law.
Personal Interview Multiplication Factor (PIF) = 0.50
AWT Multiplication Factor (AWTF) = 0.10
CAT Score Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (CATF_FCS) = 0.25
Application Rating Multiplication Factor for Final Composite Score (ARF_FCS) = 0.15
After the AWT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIMA to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in AWT & PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience, etc.
Every year, a certain no.of top Candidates from each of the Academic disciplines will be shortlisted for AWT and PI based on their Composite Score.
The Academic Writing Test is a 3 paragraph Newspaper like article. The purpose of AWT is not to test your knowledge but to test your critical reasoning and analytical skills. You need to Analyse the line of reasoning and use it as evidence. You have to discuss what evidence would strengthen or refute an argument and if necessary, what changes in the argument would make it more logically sound. Challenge the assumptions and consider the argument to be weak.
Personal Interview is usually 15-20 minutes with the initial 2-3 minutes spent on introducing yourself or ice breaking conversations. They next enquire about your Academic qualifications, your projects in the College and their applications in real life. You need to prepare atleast 2-3 topics of your choice and work hard on them. Then you are usually given a topic of current affairs and then ask you to discuss about it. Finally certain basic behaviour questions are asked.
Hello,
THe admission into IIM's is not based on your academics. The admission is based on your CAT score and your selection in Interview. To get a call from IIM you need to get at least 98% in CAT. SO you have less chances of getting a call from IIM Ahmedabad. If you belong to Reservation category then you may have a chance to get a call. So, you can try seeking admission in some other colleges as you have less chances of getting a call from IIM.
Hope this helps you.

Thank you.
hi candidate,
I am sorry but it seems bit tough with these scores(of 10th and 12th). But don't worry if you want to do MBA there are many other colleges also which are highly reputed and have great placements too. You should also give other important MBA entrance exams like XAT IIFT NMAT SNAP etc. There are many other good MBA colleges like ISB, XLRI, FMS, JBIMS, IIFT, MDI , NITIE, TISS, SPJAIN etc.
I hope this answer will help.
All the best for the future!!
hi Satish,
FOR IIM Ahmedabad you need a very good CAT percentile then only there is a chances of getting call. Generally engineers have hard time to get a call because they are less preferred, so if you are an engineer then you need 99.5+ percentile(to be in a safe zone), though there are some students who get call with a little lower percentile than 99.5 because of their exceptional profiles .IIMs also check your 10th, 12th, graduation percentage, work experience, UG Stream. IIM Ahmedabad gives good weightage to CAT percentile. So you can't mess up your CAT score that will reduce your chance of getting call drastically.
Hope this helps!
Hii,
If you fall under general category and are aspiring for admissions in Masters in Business administration or PGDM offered by IIM Ahmedabad then I'd say please don't. As even if you get 100th percentile you won't get a interview call hence, please explore other options like FMS or other colleges/b-schools and also appear for other B-school entrance tests which don't give a lot of weightage to Previous acads.
You can reach out to us for more help.
Hope it helps,
Thanks.
Hello,
IIMs look for Class 10th,12th and graduation percentage along with CAT Score before offering admission to a candidate. Work Experience is a plus but not mandatory. You have decent score in Class 10th,12th and graduation. For getting the top 3 IIMs that is IIM-A, IIM-B or IIM-C you need a CAT percentile between 99.6-99.9

Hope this was helpful
To get a call from IIM A,B,C you need to get 98+ percentile or i can say 99+ percentile. Sometimes in blue moon a 98+ percentile gets a call.
Now coming to your Previous weightage then, it is totally fine and let me tell you for Initial calling these IIM's have different parameters of evaluation. Some gives only 10% weightage to Class 10th and 12th while IIM A give 20% weightage. In Final selection also IIM A give 8% weightage to previous records.
